I was a hardworking young adult. I just got my first full time job. I was told it was better to buy then rent. So I decided to not move out of my parent’s house until I save enough to purchase my very first house. After I saved enough for a down payment, I searched for a Real Estate agent. For some strange, I had the naive belief that Real Estate Agents are honest. That probably came from the same web site who certifies these agents.
So I searched through the Internet for an agent in the Mississauga area. What came up on the listing was http://www.mississauga4sale.com/index.htm. A guy by the name of A. Mark Argentino than referred me to buyer agent named Jose Da Silva.
What I can say about Jose Da Silva was that he was a talker. He knew exactly what new homebuyer wanted to hear and presented him self as the most hardworking, passionate Real Estate Agent ever. Boy, can presentation ever be deceiving.
He would cover the cost of gas and make himself available whenever I called him (probably because no one else was stupid and naïve like me to use him my agent. So he had so much time on his hands)
Anyways to make a long story short, he caused me to lose over $15 000 for purchasing an over priced house!
To help others not fall into this trap, I encourage you read the guidelines in http://ontario.rentbin.ca/advise/advise.htm. They seem to be right on the ball when it comes to Real Estate Agents.
