Among all the many ways to save, there are two simple rules to keep in mind that can save you money, cash, dinero, cheddah, moolah, or whatever you wish to call it, every month:
One: Watch out for fees and Two: cut the cost of electricity. Generally, there may be hefty fines accessed every time your rent is late after a certain day. It can go up to $50/day in some cases, so make sure you get it in on time. Even if you have to stick a post-it note on your mirror to remind you, make sure you know when you have to have the rent in time by.
Also, don't leave trash sitting by your door or on your porch. A lot of communities access fees for unkept property, including trashy patios and doorsteps. Keep it clean! Remember, the way you're place looks is a reflection of you. Prevent having these or many of the other possible fees and you will be sure to save. For more info on fees check out:
Beware of the Energy monster! Save on energy costs by using space heaters during the winter and fans during the summer. Electricity for a small heating unit or box fan is much cheaper than blasting the heater/a.c. to set the temperature in your whole apartment. And for heaven's sake, dress warm and layer with blankets in the winter, even inside. It can save you hundreds!
Keeping those two fairly simple rules in mind can help lead you the way of finding a little extra spending money in that old crusty wallet every month.
