Sugar Land Blossoms Into A City

The tiny town of Sugar Land is all grown up and the country is taking notice. Sugar Land, originally built as a community owned by the Imperial Sugar Company, has blossomed into a city that's garnered honors from organizations and publications across the country. As the "Best Place to Live in America" to "America's Fittest City", Sugar Land is one of the most attractive communities in the country.

What makes this area one of the best places to live? In America, residents of this little Texas city have a combination of great government, thoughtful development and community spirit. The city government works hand in hand with the business and industrial community to bring top businesses to town, which has resulted in one of the lowest unemployment rates and strongest economies in the country.

This area has more master planned communities than any other city in Fort Bend County, which is, in turn, home to more planned and gated communities than any other county in the state. The advantages of master planned and gated communities are many. Offering all the amenities necessary for a comfortable lifestyle, these neighborhoods are the best. Sugar Land neighborhoods, offer luxuries and features that make living here unique and attractive.

Master planned communities here are considered one of the best. These neighborhoods were designed to be kind to the environment, including green space and open areas in their design. In addition, most master planned communities are built to incorporate shopping, entertainment venues, retail shops and recreational amenities within their confines to reduce the need for automobile driving and its effect on the environment. Besides the typical amenities, most of the communities also include fitness and recreation facilities, encouraging a healthy lifestyle for all residents.

The media notices that Sugar Land is one of the best places to live in. America, this area has attracted new residents to this fast growing city. Local developers are keeping up with the demand for new housing by completing subdivisions are the best. Sugar Land neighborhoods are existing in planned communities. The planned developments include beautiful homes of all types and styles built by builders in this city and the surrounding Fort Bend County.

The stock of real estate available here includes anything you can imagine, from cozy single family homes on wooded lots to luxury mansions on man-made lakes.

In the mid-1800s, this area was a sprawling plantation, a beautiful home with an attached community that was the center of social activities for the region. After the Civil War, the Imperial Sugar Company rebuilt the small town to provide housing and amenities for its employees and workers. Unlike many small towns that were owned by the companies that supported them, Sugar Land thrived.

The company encouraged and supported the building of schools, hospitals and businesses to meet the needs of the residents, nearly all of whom worked for Imperial. In the mid-1950s, Imperial Sugar Company built the first of many planned communities on the shores of a man-made lake and named it Venetian Estates.

Since those years, this area has become far less dependent on the Imperial Sugar Company for its economy, though the company still is located in the city. It has grown up to become a city on its own, one of the fastest growing cities in the state. Its affluent, comfortable lifestyle attract residents from all over the country who want to take advantage of the amenities of living in a town that was planned to offer all the best that life has to offer.
