Make Cooking Work For You!

Does this sound familiar? "Bring that amazing dish you brought to the last party.", or "Can I get that recipe?" We all know that vicutal genius that astounds us with their complex and tasty creations. Maybe, you are that person. Perhaps, you cannot understand what all the fuss is about. If cooking is a skill that comes to you naturally, it's easy to brush off the numerous compliments with a sincere "thank you, it's nothing", because it is nothing, to you. It's time to start making that culinary talent and mental database of recipes work for for more than a passing compliment.
These are probably meals you make all the time, or not and you just have a refined palatte. They are the staples of your mind and delightful treasures to the recipients of your labor. Cooking is an art and a skill that has faded due to the large volume of food franchise industries. Easily, a recipe from a good cook, made from scratch, will hands-down, surpass the flavor of a production line style meal every time! You know this and so do I. It is why we cook at home and enjoy doing it so much. It's why we chose to make sensibly portioned meals that serve the correct amount of people. Spending $25 on an entrée for one person that was enough to serve 2 people is not a smart financial choice. It's ok to indulge once in awhile and is nice to be waited on, as long as you have a good server. These are not thoughts running through a person's head that is not confident in their cooking abilities. Their choice is either a heart attack burger and fries, or the $25.00 alternative. Lucky for you and your family, you know how to cook and do it well.
Stop being selfish. Start making your mark and some money in the process. Teach others how to accomplish those simple comfort foods or put a new style in entertaining. Gather your index cards, post-its, notebook paper or whatever scrap piece you have those family secrets written on. Start collecting your daily recipes being served up in your personal kitchen. Stop handing out the free recipe to all your friends.
It's so easy to get a book published and such a simple topic for people like us. The next time someone asks for a recipe, help him or her in the process of ordering your book. They will get more than they asked for and you will gain some control over your financial future. This is not a get rich quick idea, not unless you have a recipe for making gold. That's an idea though! It will take determination. Some amount of necessary effort is a good thing. Being the skeptic that I am, if I am told something is easy, I am always looking for the catch.
Nevertheless, getting rich off cookbooks has been known to happen.Look at the famous cooks of the centuries past. It is now becoming a niche to have this vanishing skill. I am positive historically famous chefs thought there was no way cooking would end up leading them to full fledged career and fame. They did something right! These people did not give. They started working from the bottom up in spite of obstacles.
There are so many myths and misleading thoughts to steer you away from following a dream as simple as a cookbook. If this has never been a dream but you are an amazing cook, I would say you should reorganize your dream Rolodex. Prevent yourself from giving into negative situations by arming yourself with the right tools. Through perseverance and consistency to follow the path you've chosen, anything is possible. Remember, it's only a cookbook and you already have the knowledge in your head or scattered around the house. Pick your feet up and do something fun with this taken for granted knowledge!!
