Software Professional http://www.SanRadiance.Com
I've been working in Software companies for quite a while its been more than 3 years.I've worked with some service based companies & then moving to sanradiance & working there was an entirely different experience. The technology knowledgebase there is impressive. I've worked on quality assurance of some of the enterprise level storage appliances.
Whenever I meet someone who is searching for a job in IT or Software stream usually they ask questions like how will be the job, what are the challenges we face & how to get the job. How to clear the interview processes & meet the expectations of the job openings.
I've been answering them but they are all technical stuff I thought may be sharing about the work experience in a brief overview also will benefit many tech career aspirants in their search for a good IT job. hence this brief article.
I can not discuss much about the projects I've worked on but I can share my experiences of how I evolved as a Software professional there. The team was good , we were 5 member team & we had to interact with 4 more teams in the same campus as well as we had to interact with some teams spread in different geos( countries like canada, australia). Initially when I had to attend some of the conf calls it was like odd hours later I got used to it.
Working with teams spread in different geos gives you broader understanding of the global technology development. You play an important role & its very crucial that you deliver to meet the expectations. Lot of project deliverables may be impacted if you miss out on your work & its a very bad feeling.
Previously I worked in teams where most of our interaction was within the same campus but here working with global teams put its own pressure & also bought me better experience. We had to work closely with the end user beta community as well as the Product development teams. There was some initial prep team required by our whole team. But we did work hard & it was exhilarating to see some of our work being appreciated by teams in other countries. We did set some process improvements & bought in some nice initiatives which was appreciated highly by the program management & also quality assurance teams working on other projects too.
Overall I had some real good experience but also had tough times when I struggled to meet their deadlines. Many a times the infrastructure & hardware crunches while sharing between many teams did had its down impact. But I've seen worst in other companies too.
Sanradiance gave me some of the best friends & helped me become a Storage professional that Im now.Though I've put my 100% to push myself & reach this stage I will always remember the team members & the work I've done here. Its enriching when you are with a team which supports you both on & off the work.
People feel that the brand name of the company makes a huge difference I feel that the work you do & how much you technically, professionally evolve makes all the difference. So for me this software job has been cherishing & the company SanRadiance has given an opportunity to work on some of the hot technology projects. I'm thankful & hence sharing my experiences to help give a positive insight for others who are aspiring to build their career in Software companies.

Avoiding Age Discrimination in Your Job Search
By: Brad Remillard | 21/11/2009My last article, “Busted, Age Discrimination Reveal” I gave two examples of reverse age discrimination. As a short refresher, I was working two searches for two different companies. In both case they selected the older more experienced people, over the younger candidates with less experience. These were both very senior level positions and even the younger candidates had 20+ years experience. The older candidates had 30+ years experience.
6 Reasons Why LinkedIn Is So Critical In A Job Search
By: Brad Remillard | 21/11/2009A candidate recently asked me, “How do I find a hiring manager in a large company like Microsoft?” There are a lot of ways to do this but one of the easiest and best is using LinkedIn. When I recommended this to the candidate he completely agreed, however, the problem was he only had about 60 connections. Too few to be effective.
Not AnotherJob Search Networking Article – WHY?
By: Brad Remillard | 21/11/2009Statistics show that 60 to 70% of all executive positions are found through networking with others. The American Association of Senior Executives (AASE), reports that 54% of their members attributed getting their new position to networking at AASE meetings. That is a large percent considering each meeting on average has about 40 executives in attendance.
