Transitioning Career from Military to Civilian

A simple process of changing trade, occupation or profession is known as job transitioning. A large number of professionals and students are going towards job transitioning. In recent times, a large number of military professionals are transitioning jobs. They are working in civilian jobs. This is primarily because of added benefits that these private commercial firms offer. There are certainly a large chunk of people who are looking to work in civilian jobs. Most of them are military professionals.

According to a recent survey, each year around 250,000 military workers leave their jobs. These military professionals are very accomplished candidates who can make the best out of professional opportunities. They are just required to show enough self-reliance to resist the cutthroat market. Now, given below are a few important things that a military professional should do in order to secure a decent civilian job.

1. Evaluation of strengths and positive points
It is of utmost importance for a military professional to work hard on his skills and evaluate them properly. Military professionals are very advantageous in most of the civilian jobs because of their high principles of functions and performance. They make excellent leaders and Human Resources professionals.

2. Crafting an exceptional civilian job resume
It is very important for a military professional to craft an exceptional civilian job resume. You should mainly emphasize and stress upon your professional qualities and skills. You should by no means focus on your military rank in the resume or any other vital document. This could certainly work against you.

3. Crafting an exceptional cover letter
Nothing is as important as a cover letter in your job search procedure. You can never secure a job unless you craft a good cover letter. It should straight away catch the eye of the employer. You just need to convince the employer regarding your abilities to work under all circumstances.

4. Recognize your  occupational needs
It is very important for you to recognize your occupational needs. Think about various business options that could benefit you. Transition Assistance Program (TAP) is an excellent option for you to consider. This program is very beneficial when it comes to transitioning career from military to civilian.

5. Think about all job opportunities
Consider all the basic job opportunities available with you. You should always try new things.

Job transitioning is a great option for you if you are a military professional. Have fun and enjoy yourself!

By: Brad Remillard | 02/12/2009

I will wait until the new year. It is time for a break.” As succinctly as my mild manner can put it, DUMB MOVE. Sorry to yell, but that is what this attitude is. So let’s call it dumb.
