Do you already have a job, but find that with the price of gas and everything else going through the roof, you could use some additional income? You don't want to quit your main job, and you don't want to work two full time jobs, but you're looking for something that's part time but still pays very well? Or maybe you're a student or just someone who doesn't need a full time job, just a flexible part time job with good income potential? Then you should think about becoming a valet parking attendant.

Why? Several different reasons, actually. One is that you can make some serious cash, with the emphasis on cash. Not only will you be getting an hourly wage from your employer, you'll also be getting tips every time you work. It's the rare person who won't tip the valet who parks or brings back their car.

Another reason is flexibility. Most (but not all) valet parking services will let you choose when to work. If you've made plans for next Thursday night, you can usually just put yourself down as unavailable, and that's that. Of course, you probably won't be able to take every weekend off, since a lot of the work will be on weekends. But you'll have a lot more flexibility than in most jobs.

Third, there's the prestige of the job. Why sweat over a hot grill down at Burger Mogul, or wear out your car driving all over town for Fred's Pizza Emporium? Wouldn't you rather be driving other people's cars? Many of them will be very expensive cars, too. You'll be working weddings, charity balls, fund raisers, grand openings of fancy restaurants, etc., so the clientele will be quite a bit different than a fast food or retail job.

So if you're looking for extra income, give some serious thought to becoming a valet parking attendant. The money's good, and it's a lot more fun than most jobs!
