In every country, everyday there are illegal activities are happening in spite of the law and order of people’s government.
Newspapers report them in full details and TV channels flash them everyday with detailed footage and analysis with witness’s accounts.
Some activities are caught red handed whereas others escape the eyes of police, general public and even to media.
Is it possible to stop totally such illegal activities?
One may say ‘yes.’
But some say as long as there is a legal activity there will be illegal activity also.
In human history we have seen this and also we are seeing today, probably we may see in future also.
Sometimes Governments give statistics saying that the illegal activities have come down in number over years.
In some countries these activities are increased with years.
It is possible to control the illegal activities with certain legal procedures.
Murder, rape, theft, kidnapping, corruption, cheating and hijacking are some of the illegal activities we see around us.
Why such illegal activities are happening around us?
Good question for a politician who can answer it convincingly.
But who can prevent them?
Yes, the Government is taking the responsibility of protecting the people against illegal activities.
Those people who are lawyers are also misbehaving and involve in illegal activities.
Some months ago we saw the incidents in the Chennai High Court premises.
Even lawyers forget their responsibility once they are emotional with a strong view about their standing in the legal system.
Supreme Court of India is supreme to all – lawyers or police or public.
One has to follow what the Supreme Court orders.
But it is not happening!
Is it not illegal?
What is the punishment?
Nowadays Unions in different professions are very active and powerful.
Even if a single individual of a particular profession err, the Union defends him or her and go on strike, indefinite fast, processions and sometimes enter into hooliganism.
No one, even the Government is helpless to arrest such unwanted activities.
People are too free to do what they want.
No respect is given for law and order.
A democracy without illegal activities is not possible in any country it appears.
Illegal activities are often given some color and made into a larger issue involving more people in the agitation.
Countries like India have a diverse population – rich and poor, literate and illiterate, low and high caste, Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and many more religious sects – which live harmoniously in spite of the diversity.
But the diversity sometimes leads to illegality leading to unpleasant incidents in a society.
Majority of the people are law abiding citizens.
Only few people do not consider that law abiding is essential for the citizens.
Therefore, among us, there are differences in opinion and behavior.
Most of the educated people, policemen, politicians and government servants are corrupt in one way or other.
They know very well that corruption is an illegal activity; still they practice this activity.
Steps have been taken to regulate such activities rather than controlling them.
Long legal procedures are followed.
Punishments are prescribed by concerned authorities; still some do escape these punishments through illegal means.
Hence, illegality is prevalent everywhere and every time.
It is a complex process which appears to have no solution at all.
As man evolves, most of the illegal activities should come down so that the future generation will have a satisfied and sustainable life.
Time has solved many problems.
Let illegal activity be one among them.
