Often times, when a relationship ends, one or the other will ask the other if “we can still be friends.” More times than not, it doesn’t end up that way. The reason for this is that these two people were never friends in the first place. Friends make the best lovers, and this will become even more obvious when times get tough in a relationship.
The Myth
So many times, two people who are friends will shy away from getting together on a romantic level. They fear that if things don’t work out, it will ruin a good friendship. And, one or both of them usually ends up romantically involved with someone who is totally wrong, or unhealthy, for them. They subconsciously, and sometimes consciously, wonder what it would be like to be romantically involved with their best friend. Well, chances are, if they are good enough friends, the relationship has a much better chance at not ending, at least for a very long time. And, if their friendship is strong enough, and true enough, they will be able to remain friends after the relationship is over.
Friends Really Do Make the Best Lovers
When two people who are friends realize that they are attracted to each other, they often see that the familiarity that made them good friends will make their romantic relationship that much better. Friends tend to learn things about their friends that lovers typically don’t seem to (for some strange reason). Friends usually are much more open and honest with each other than lovers are, which is one of the biggest problems with most relationships.
On the other hand, the familiarity that friends share can easily carry over into success in romance. The level of trust and honesty should already be established in any strong friendship, and should remain when the relationship moves to the next level.
Why This Is So Important
Again, friends make the best lovers. The built-in trust and honesty that is present in any good friendship will carry over into a romantic relationship, and make the bond even tighter. And, the tight bonds of friendship will make the relationship even stronger during those tough times, and will make those good times even better and more enjoyable.
