Baptism is one of the two major Christian sacraments present in most Christian denominations. Alongside the Lord’s Supper, it’s one of the two major, binding sacraments. It symbolizes passing through the waters of chaos into the newness of a better world. At the beginning of the Old Testament, as early as the first paragraph of the first recognized book of Genesis, it tells us that God was hovering over the waters of chaos. He formed something beautiful that made sense out of that chaos. When Moses, in the book of Exodus, passed through the Red Sea, it symbolized the victory of the people of faith through the waters of chaos. When Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River, it symbolized his passing through the waters of chaos for all of us. When we, as Christians, get baptized, it shows everyone around us that we are identifying with Christ, starting a new Christian life, and that we identify with Jesus’ passing through the waters of chaos on our behalf. Baptism is not a requirement for salvation, but it’s a confirmation of something that’s already happened. It’s meant as a kind of permanent verification. However, the only real permanent thing is a simple statement of belief. Even the thief on the cross knew that. Jesus saved him anyway, and he did not have to send out baptism invitations.
Baptism invitations are sent out to friends and family members because it’s a significant and magical day in a Christian’s life when he identifies with Christ Jesus, his lord and savior, for all eternity. His friends and family member need to see this because it’s akin to other big ceremonies like graduations, weddings, anniversaries, baby showers, and parties of all sorts. Baptism invitations often feature religious imagery to showcase the spiritual significance of the event to friends and family. There are no two ways about it. A baptism is a special day, and it’s necessary to send out invitations.
The best place to buy baptism invitations is online because they have a selection of thousands that small-time Christian book stores might not have. Sometimes, Christian book stores don’t have baptism invitations with the right spiritual message for your denomination, and that’s where it’s helpful to go online and customize your card with your own images and message.
Baptism invitations can be fun as well as edifying if you put a little spunk into it.

The Foreigner woman in Bible versus Quran (7)
By: Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil | 06/01/2010The Bible mentioned three foreign women, all are prostitutes; they were 1) Rahab, the wife of Salmon who is one of the ancestors of the Lord Jesus, 2) The mother of Jephthah who delivered and judged Israel and 3) a foreign woman from Gaza. In the whole Quran, the term "foreign woman" is not mentioned therein; all women are equal in respect to their rights and responsibilities regardless of race, color, location etc.

Weinberg’s Snow Removal Service
By: Rabbi Simcha Weinberg | 05/01/2010I don’t have to go to the gym today! It took more time for me to shovel the snow than I would usually spend in the gym and I certainly burned enough calories. In fact, although my muscles ache and my back is sore, I enjoy shoveling snow (without Pip’s help. See Silence) more than using a treadmill. When I walk off the treadmill I am exactly where I began. When I finish shoveling the snow I have tangible proof of my work. (A Measure of Success)
