One of the long-drawn-out dogmas of mankind is that the Quran is quoted or borrowed from the Bible. This doctrine is established upon studies of many prejudiced intellectual scholars which mischief us due to its unenthusiastic consequences on man's faith.
In this series of articles (1-12), it is obvious that the Quran is quite different from the Bible. In addition, it is very clear that the Noble Quran preceded the sciences in many aspects while the Bible contradicts with the sciences.
In the present topic of the Monthly period, one may ask this: Is the Quran quoted from the Bible? The Bible which talks about 1)the girls which are dirty, 2)Everything the woman touches, sits on, lies on etc is unclean, 3) the Monthly period is like an evil in God' sight, and 4) The God commands to kill both man and woman if they have sexual intercourse during her period.
Or the Quran which says that the site of the discharge (vagina) during the Monthly period is polluted and harmful and the sexual intercourse is not allowed during such period.
Before dealing with the topic of the Monthly period in Quran versus Bible versus sciences, it is essential to remember that the total words of the Bible are 788,280 while total words of the Quran are 77,473. It follows that, the Bible is more than 10 times the Quran word-wise. In other words, the Bible has the potential of more than 10 times the Quran to exhibit any topic.
Back to the Monthly period, it is mentioned 15 times in the Bible and once in the Quran.
The Monthly period in the Bible
Other names of The Monthly period in the Bible are: monthly flow, monthly uncleanness, period, uncleanness, unclean, discharge, flow.
The Bible quotes herein are from the New International Version (NIV).
Why the girls are so dirty?
Leviticus 12:2
"Say to the Israelites: 'A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period."
Leviticus 12:5
"If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding."
These two verses discriminate between the boys and the girls.
If the mother gives birth to a boy, she is unclean for 7 days.
If the mother gives birth to a girl, she is unclean for 14 days.
Why then the girls are so dirty?
Everything the woman touches, sits on, lies on etc is unclean:
Leviticus 15:19
"When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening."
Leviticus 15:20
"Anything she lies on during her period will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean."
Leviticus 15:25
"When a woman has a discharge of blood for many days at a time other than her monthly period or has a discharge that continues beyond her period, she will be unclean as long as she has the discharge, just as in the days of her period."
Leviticus 15:26
"Any bed she lies on while her discharge continues will be unclean, as is her bed during her monthly period, and anything she sits on will be unclean, as during her period."
Leviticus 15:33
"For a woman in her monthly period, for a man or a woman with a discharge, and for a man who lies with a woman who is ceremonially unclean."
2 Samuel 11:4
"Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (She had purified herself from her uncleanness.) Then she went back home."
Ezekiel 22:10
"In you are those who dishonor their fathers' bed; in you are those who violate women during their period, when they are ceremonially unclean."
The criteria of a good one:
Ezekiel 18:6
"He does not eat at the mountain shrines or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor's wife
or lie with a woman during her period."
Herein are the criteria of a good one who: 1) does not eat at the mountain shrines, 2) does not look to the idols, 3) does not defile his neighbor's wife and 4) does not lie with a woman during her period.
What if the man touches her monthly flow?
Leviticus 15:24
"If a man lies with her and her monthly flow touches him, he will be unclean for seven days; any bed he lies on will be unclean."
That is why do not approach her:
Leviticus 18:19
"Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness of her monthly period."
Is the Monthly period sin or evil?
Ezekiel 36:17
"Son of man, when the people of Israel were living in their own land, they defiled it by their conduct and their actions. Their conduct was like a woman's monthly uncleanness in my sight."
This verse categorizes the evil deeds with a woman's monthly period in God' sight.
And what if a man has sex with a woman during her period?
Kill and execute both of them!
Leviticus 20:18
'If a man lies with a woman during her monthly period and has sexual relations with her, he has exposed the source of her flow, and she has also uncovered it. Both of them must be cut off from their people.
Herein the God love commands to kill both the man and woman
The Monthly period in the Quran
In Surah 2:222
"And they ask you about menstruation. Say: the place of menstruation is a hurt and a pollution; therefore keep away from the women during her menstrual discharge and do not go near such a place until they have become clean; then when they have cleansed themselves, go in to them as Allah has commanded you; surely Allah loves those who turn much (to Him) constantly, and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean."
Some women asked a Wife of the Prophet Mohammad about what is allowed for them to do with their husbands during their periods. She told them: "Everything but the sexual intercourse".
Hence, the Quran reckons the period itself as a normal physiological process. But the site of the discharge (vagina) during such period is harmful and polluted. Then the restriction is to have sexual intercourse during the Monthly period. That is the story of the period in the Quran.
One has to consider and acknowledge these Quranic teachings which preceded the discovery of Microbiology by more than 1300 years when it said that the place of menstruation is polluted; this is an obvious Microbiological fact. And also when it said it is harmful if the man has sexual intercourse during the period; it is also a clear scientific fact.
In short, the Quran tells us that the Monthly period is just a normal physiological condition, and a man can do everything with his wife while she has her period except for the sexual intercourse. Man can eat with her, touches her; kiss her etc. everything but the intercourse.
Hence, one fair intellectual person could answer this Dogmatic question:
"Does the Quran quoted or borrowed from the Bible? And which book preceded the sciences? The book which talks about 1)the girls which are dirty, 2)Everything the woman touches, sits on, lies on etc is unclean, 3) the Monthly period is like an evil in God' sight, and 4) The God commands to kill both man and woman if they have sexual intercourse during her period.
Or the book which says that the site of the discharge (vagina) during the Monthly period is polluted and harmful and the sexual intercourse is not allowed during such period?

The Stress Of Christmas
By: Michael A. Verdicchio | 31/12/2009In the mail, you receive a Christmas card from someone who was not on your list of cards that you sent. Oh, no! Now what do you do? It's too late. If you do send them a card they won't get it in time. This is but a small part of what I call, "the stress of Christmas."

By: Mustafaa Muhammad | 30/12/2009The title of this article may seem paradoxical taking into account the fact that I am a Muslim, a member of the Islamic community, and am part of a religion.
