For those new to the dating scene or who are re-entering the dating scene - Christian dating services offer a trendy way to meet others who share your religious beliefs and values. Here are some tips to help you get started with one on the Internet:
Create an honest profile for others to search for and find. All Christian online dating services allow you to create a profile that describes your appearance, occupation, age, hobbies, interests, etc. You may even upload a picture of yourself if allowed, and list your contact (email) information. This profile that you create gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself to others who share some of the elements in your profile (like interests or beliefs for example). Of course, you can always look at other profiles to get an idea of how to create your own.
If you upload a photo - don't embellish it in such a way that it's misleading. Should you find someone to meet in person, and you've uploaded a misleading photo, you run the risk of disappointing your date, or coming off as a dishonest person. The photograph that you upload should not only be truthful (unaltered), it should also focus on you - not you and your pet, friends, or ex.
At this stage, you don't' want to put your real name on your profile. Wait until you've developed a trusting relationship with someone before you make your true identity known to that person.
When looking for someone to interact with, perform a search using desirable qualities as keywords. Most Christian online dating services allow you to search for specific physical qualities (height, weight, eye- hair- or skin color, etc.), hobbies, interests, in addition to location.
Once you've exchanged email for a while or even talked over the phone and are ready to meet face-to-face, don't do it alone! Meet in a public place where there are plenty of other people around should something not feel "quite right."
