Fascination of Wellness by Rodney Howard Browne

The sovereign God of Israel was closely engaged in Joseph's life. He gave him facility in the Egyptian language. On top of all that, he gave him favor in the eyes of Potiphar. 'Now his master saw the LORD was with him'.
Notice, it's not saying that Joseph asked favors from Potiphar ; he found favor with Potiphar. Not on the glacier slopes of the Alps, but in the bright fields of the Campagna ; not when the youth is climbing arduously the steep ladder of celebrity, but when he has entered the golden portals ; not where men scowl, but where they smile sweet delightful smiles of flattery-it is there, it is there, the vamp lies in wait. This alert isn't of doubt to the individual that's down and out. Its message is addressed to the successful, to the up-and-coming executive, to the man or woman on the way to the peak of the heap, to the individual who is experiencing the advantages and favor of Almighty God, who is reaping the advantages of increased privacy and trust. Thomas Carlyle, the Scottish essayist, was right when he said,'Adversity is sometimes hard on an individual, apart from one man who can stand wealth, there are a hundred that will stand adversity.' The enticements that go with wealth are far bigger ( and lots more refined ) than those that accompany difficulty. From the time that Joshua died until Saul took the throne of Israel, the Hebrew state wasn't a monarchy like most surrounding states. Clergymen reference it as a theocracy-'God-rule.' The Lord ruled over Israel, issuing His decrees and controlling thru soothsayers and priests.
in this way, the Israelites were like no other country on earth in that they could claim God as their leader, the invisible Creator, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the Almighty One who crushed Egypt, parted the Red Sea, and conquered Canaan. 3 factors drove their need for a king. Thomas Carlyle, the Scottish essayist, was right when he told,'Adversity is commonly hard on someone, excepting one man who can stand wealth, there are one hundred which will stand adversity.' The enticements that go with wealth are far bigger ( and much more refined ) than those that accompany trouble.
First, Samuel was old and no longer ready to keep pace with the demands of the country. Before we move on, let's not bypass a very important point of interest. On prior pages we observed the failure of Eli to point his boys. Dr. Browne shows that now we see tiny evidence to proffer that Samuel did any better.
Scripture doesn't offer as detailed info about his parenting, but the notable likeness between Samuel's boys and those of Eli leaves us with tiny else to conclude.
Eli was a great clergyman and a constant judge. His boys became unfit as leaders like those of Eli. This was a critical moment in the life of Israel. 'They have not defied you, but they have rejected Me from being king over them [8:7].'. Actually the Lord announced,'You are anxious to go down this path-one which will essentially cause you sorrow-and I won't stop you.

Overwhelmed By Numbers

By: Rabbi Simcha Weinberg | 07/12/2009
I was overwhelmed with all the posts on Shalom Aleichem that I received in response to my invitation. I spent so much time responding to emails, posting, editing etc. that I barely had time to write anything this week. I was thrilled to receive so many beautiful insights into a song that so many take for granted, but I was also distracted. I am far from the best time-manager. (Busy-itis)

The Tree of Life: A Cure For Bittered Waters

By: Stephen Stillman | 06/12/2009
We are familiar with the story of Moses leading the people of Israel out of bondage in Egypt. One of their most critical times during this journey was when they were suffering from an almost intolerable thirst. How their hearts beat with joy when they came to Marah and saw water! Just as quickly as their hearts become joyful, despair came again because the waters were too bitter to drink. All of us sooner or later in life come to Marah where we find bitter waters in the cup of human experience.

The Lord God's Invitation in Bible versus Quran (1)

By: Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil | 05/12/2009
In the Bible, the Lord God invites the birds and all the wild animals for the flesh of the mighty to eat and the blood the princes of the earth to drink. In the Quran, Allah invites the people to keep their duty to their Lord.

God Calculus

By: MILES PRIDE | 04/12/2009
We know very little about our vast universe. What we know could easily be deposited on the head of a pin in a million galaxies. Evolution, as it pertains to man, is arguably far from substantiated (even evolutionists disagree with one another.) This being the case wouldn't the "possibility" of a...
