No Christmas is ever complete without the beautiful, symmetrical fir shimmering with blinking lights, gleaming bells, stars, toys and garlands or without big bright gift boxes piled up at one corner or without a wreath at the door and many more. Yes, that is the Christmas decoration we are talking about. The fun takes off with the start of the Christmas shopping season, marked by Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and by far, the busiest shopping day of the year.
The Christmas shopping season is indeed a busy time. And along with finding the right gifts for folks, a major part of the holiday shopping is focused on buying the perfect Christmas ornaments. All would want to make their Christmas evergreen stand out or the house to look the best in the neighborhood. Naturally there is a huge rush for picking up the perfect wreaths, garlands, stars, bells, snowflake ornaments, red hat ladies ornaments or toys. May be this year you would want to go the unconventional way and bring home some new ornamental pieces like little Santa coats, the festive feather tassels, the White House, Mount Vernon or the US Capitol ornaments. There are so many to choose from—religious and traditional, gold and silver, funky and Victorian—it only adds up to more fun decking up your holidays.
The finest symbol of the year’s biggest celebration Christmas is, of course, the Christmas tree. And decoration activity during the holiday season is not a recent development. The practice of decorating a Christmas tree can be traced back to a time way back in the 1500s, when a fir tree associated with Virgin Mary was adorned with roses. At one point in time, Christmas evergreens were only decorated with nuts, cookies, raisins and pretzels. Then there were the German glass ornaments, especially the famous glass pickle ornament. Gradually these items were replaced by today’s plastic tree ornaments—the conventional bells, stars, toys, candy canes et al. And now, there is a plethora of Christmas ornamental accessories in malls and stores.
There are ornaments for the young and adult alike. Kids have a fun-time decorating their Christmas tree with little snowmen, Santa Claus hats, crystal balls, small toys, candy canes and many other chic tree ornaments. Sometimes parents even bring home ornaments with educational value so that kids can learn even while having fun. With this purpose in mind, handmade Christmas ornaments are also encouraged by the elders to engage the little ones in fun learning activities. Children also take great enthusiasm crafting out wonderful paper ornaments for their homes and Christmas trees.
A lion’s share of all Christmas decorations is taken up by these varied Christmas ornaments every year, precisely because Christmas would lose much of its joyous flavor without these. So shopkeepers and retailers never get tired of designing newer ornaments for the holidays and people are never tired of making the most with these. After all, everyone likes to doll up their holidays in every way!

Lord of All
By: Phillip Ross | 07/01/2010The fact that Jesus is Lord does not mean that His Lordship just applies to people who agree with Him. Jesus is Lord of all, or He is not Lord at all. The earliest and most consistent understanding of Jesus' authority was that it is universal.

By: Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil | 06/01/2010The Bible mentioned three foreign women, all are prostitutes; they were 1) Rahab, the wife of Salmon who is one of the ancestors of the Lord Jesus, 2) The mother of Jephthah who delivered and judged Israel and 3) a foreign woman from Gaza. In the whole Quran, the term "foreign woman" is not mentioned therein; all women are equal in respect to their rights and responsibilities regardless of race, color, location etc.
