Did King David pretend to be insane in the Bible?
Yes, King David changed his behavior and pretended to be insane, he acted like a madman; scratched and making marks on the doors of the gate and letting saliva run down his beard. However, if you read the entire story you may find that there was no need at all for King David to behave like that!

Did King David pretend to be insane in the Quran?
No. There is no such story in the Noble Quran.
However, King David is mentioned many times in the Noble Quran as for example:
In the verse 38:17, Allah, exalted is He says:
Allah, exalted is He says:
Bear O Muhammad with what they say in your rejection, and remember Our bondman David; He says: mention to them the event of Our slave David, the one of fortitude, the lord of might who had strength for our worship.
He was obedient, always engaged in the worship of Allah.
Lo! He was ever turning in repentance towards Allah,
Indeed he was a penitent [soul]; always returning to what pleases Allah.
According to the Noble Quran, it is a very big unforgiving sin to say or to believe in anything that dishonors any Prophet.
King David was a great Prophet who is very well respected and beloved.

Bear patiently what they say, and remember our servant David, the possessor of power; surely he was frequent m returning (to Allah)

Have patience at what they say, and remember our servant David, the man of strength: for he ever turned (to Allah).
