Comparative Study between the Bible versus the Quran (37) - The first part
Chapter by Chapter and Verse by Verse;
(Chapter 37:1-10)
The Old Testament Verses from 1-10 are talking about Israel loved Joseph more than all his children and his brethren hated him. Joseph dreamed two dreams, that were explained as he will have dominion over his brethren and his father, mother and brethren will to bow down to him to the earth. His father rebuked him and his brethren hated him more.
The New Testament Verses from 1-10 are talking about Jesus prophesized that some of his attendants shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. Then appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, this is my beloved Son: hear him. Jesus charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man was raised from the dead. They were questioning what the rising from the dead should mean!
This story indicates: 1) Jesus' prophecy will never happen and 2) Jesus' attendants had no idea about the rising from the dead.
The Noble Quran Verses from 1-10 are talking about (read the second part of this article).

Old Testament:
Chapter 37 in the Old Testament is Genesis 37; it is composed of 36 verses.
Verses from 1-10 are talking about Israel loved Joseph more than all his children and his brethren hated him. Joseph dreamed two dreams, that were explained as he will have dominion over his brethren and his father, mother and brethren will to bow down to him to the earth. His father rebuked him and his brethren hated him more.
N.B.: in the Noble Quran, Joseph did not tell his brethren but he told his father Jacob who advised him not to tell his brethren! Also, Jacob did not rebuke him for his dream!
Genesis 37 (King James Version)
1] And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
2] These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
3] Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
4] And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
5] And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
6] And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
7] For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
8] And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
9] And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
10] And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

New Testament
Chapter 37 in the New Testament is Mark 9; it is composed of 50 verses.
Verses from 1-10 are talking about Jesus prophesized that some of his attendants shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
This story indicates:
1) Jesus' prophecy will never happen simply because all of his attendants died the kingdom of God with power did not come!
2) Jesus' attendants had no idea about the rising from the dead and it follows that they had no idea also about resuscitation; this indicates that they had no faith in the afterlife and in the hell and heaven! This is supported by the obvious fact of the disappearance of the concepts of resuscitation, afterlife, hell and heaven from the Old Testament!
In comparison, it should be emphasized that most of the chapters of the Quran mention the concepts of resuscitation, afterlife, hell and heaven and the fate of the believers and the disbelievers.
Mark 9 (King James Version)
1] And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
2] And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.
3] And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.
4] And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
5] And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
6] For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.
7] And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
8] And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.
9] And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.
10] And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.
