As a spiritual-futurist, I have a BA degree majoring in history. One cannot know the future without knowing the past which holds clues to what is on the horizon. The world is in such a rapid expansion of knowledge that we are close to entering a tipping point that will forever change earth as we know it.
The King James Version (KJV) of the Bible reads as follows, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do..." We will do greater works than Jesus? Did Jesus really say that? Didn't Jesus do miracles? So, what's up with us anyway?
We've been told too many times over too many years, by too many people that our fate is linked to our sins, that we're limited to mediocrity: just trying to overcome our sins! We spend too much time and money getting a FACE LIFT when what we need is a FAITH LIFT! We can't say we BELIEVE A during the night and then lay waken in fear and trembling that B is happening.
We're human and if there is anything humans can't do is walk on WATER (as Jesus did).
Well, how about walking on FIRE? Isn't that pretty miraculous? Amanda Dennison (23 years old)holds the record for walking 220 feet over coals measured at 1600-1800 degrees fahrenheit. It took her a little over 30 seconds to complete the walk. So, you don't think fire-walking is a miracle?
How about Angela Cavallo (weighing in at 130lbs wet) who saved her trapped son by lifting a 1964 Chevrolet for nearly five minutes while rescuers arrived and extracted her unconscious son. Hey, it's on video. Or what about the construction worker who lifted a 3,000+ pound helicopter from a drainage ditch to rescue a pilot?
It’s almost too unbelievable, right?
And I've not begun to mention those radicals in the hills of Eastern America where the Free Pentecostal Holiness Church resides. They regularly get bit by poisonous copperheads and rattlesnakes and show no effects. But then they top that off with a drink of toxic strychnine and go out for lunch after church.
Anyone thirsty? :-)
We seldom get the chance to life helicopters, cars, or even the desire to be a firewalker, but how about some safe things like praying for the sick, or a couple of those "heal thyself physician" episodes? Like being pregnant, you are or you aren't. We can't BELIEVE 95-99%: it's an all or nothing gambit. It's a trial and error experience. And, it's a BELIEF in who we really are and not what we've been TAUGHT or what we SEE with our physical eyes.
How serious are you for those "greater things"? Shall we leave the miracles to the secular world outside the church walls or shall we get more serious in BEING who we ARE, and not who we've been taught that we are?
