I must have heard the phrase, "Let Go and Let God", several dozen times in my lifetime. Letting go and letting God sounds so easy. There are many people who'd rather not get involved in the touhg issues of life so, just letting go and having God do it sure sounds nice. Oh yes and by the way, we only pretend to let go. Our ego never really wants to do that!
The real phrase should be to "Let go and LOVE".
We're not good at letting go- of anything, especially of religious doctrines and dogmas that we have embraced for decades. They die very slowly if at all. Our egos set up beliefs structures that it deems are sacred and then holds on to them in spite of irrefutable evidence to the contrary. I have actually been told by people that they'd rather hold on to what is wrong and comfortable than to change to what is right and adverse to their thinking.
Worse yet though are the emotions and judgments that are attached to the BELIEFS!
We need to let people be FREE!
Not only do people find it difficult to thinking differently, to look at other options, to even consider a new approach to life, but they feel it necessary to convince others to follow their way. There is no live and let live. Subtle or "in your face" I have the truth mentality leads to a missing of the most important as pect to life.
LOVE!
More than letting God and letting God, we're called to let go and LOVE! We all have our "belief systems" and they can't all be right so therefore why can't we just share our views (when asked) and then LOVE those who think differently. More importantly, to LOVE those who ARE different: in color, race, gender, or religious persuasion. Too much common sense here?
By the way, LOVE carries with it the implication of action(s), not just emotional sympathy or empathy.
