As a spiritual-futurist, I have a BA degree majoring in history. One cannot know the future without knowing the past which holds clues to what is on the horizon. The world is in such a rapid expansion of knowledge that we are close to entering a tipping point that will forever change earth as we know it.
If somehow we were able to divide up all the wealth of the world and divide it equally today, tomorrow it would be unequal again. Better yet, it would be unequal on the day it was distributed. Some will wisely invest while others would throw the money away in a myriad of wasteful manners.
In America we have two political parties who take a different approach to EQUALITY or FAIRNESS!
The Republican party, otherwise known as the religious right wing conservative crowd, believes in rugged individualism- entrepreneurial ism. Life is made fair when one dies. Those that were scoundrels will go to hell and those who suffered at the hands of the rich and others will get their REWARD in heaven. Life is not fair HERE, but it will be fair THERE.
The Democratic party, otherwise known as the secular left wing progressive crowd, doesn't put too much stock in an after-life so things need to be made FAIR in the here and now. There needs to be a redistribution and a sharing of the resources on a more equal basis. Think about it. Which party came up with the New Deal, the Great Society, the War on Poverty, the New Frontier, Medicare and now Healthcare?
Life isn't about what's FAIR, but about whom we ARE and to whom we are in relationship. Life is about ONENESS and intimacy with the “I AM”, the presence of God-Creator-Consciousness-Light, etc. However, it is towards the concept of meritocracy that religion has been drawn. And, it’s only to their hurt that the church has done so.
