What does it mean to praise God? Praising God is what we are created to do here on earth. This is why we were created, to give praise and glory to our Lord God who gave us life.
One of the first and best ways to praise God is to just start giving thanks. Just as it says in scripture, to give thanks with a grateful heart. God gave his son to die for us and for that alone we should be waking up in the morning giving thanks every day of our lives.
Hebrews 13:15 says let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
There are many ways we can be giving thanks and praising God as long as it is coming from your heart. You can praise God with musical instruments, clapping your hands, singing, shouting, and dancing. Read through the psalms and you will read of the many ways David talks of praising God.
* Psalm 150:4 Talks of praising God with dance and instruments.
* Psalm 9:11 Talks of singing praise.
* Psalm 94 says give shouts of praise to God
* Psalm 134 says raise your hands praising God
Giving thanks and praising God is pleasing to Him. When we praise God and give thanks we as well receive His many benefits. When we are feeling down, heavy burdened, and the heaviness of life has us down we can turn to God with praise. Turn to God and praise Him for his attributes and the heaviness will just fall off.
Giving praise to God does not have to always be about being loud. You do not always have to be jumping, singing, dancing, and shouting to God. These are all great ways to give praise to God and I love it. I love to give my all praising God with loud shouts and dancing and jumping around.
Even sometimes we are to just be still in the presence of God, as it says in Psalm 4:3.
Have your quiet time with the Lord. This is the time you spend in your quiet place seeking God alone. Even Jesus did this. He would go off by himself away from the crowds and His disciples and spend time with the Father.
So just as David says in Psalm 34:1, Bless the Lord all the times. His praise will continually be in my mouth. Let the same be true with us. Give thanks and praise to God at all times and in all circumstance.

Celebrating the 4th of July by David Barton and Rick Green
By: Reggie Stephens | 12/11/2009Many major internet sites and encyclopedias identify the 4th of July as "America's largest religious holiday," and the compendium outlines "secular" as "pertaining to things that aren't regarded as non secular or sacred." the events leading in to America's birthday were anything except temporal. As George Washington recognized, "The hand of Providence has been so conspicuous in all this that he has got to be worse than an infidel that lacks religion, and more than evil, which has not g...

Glorify and Give Thanks by Richard Roberts
By: Otto Estes | 11/11/2009Well, are you able to give us an example of something that happened? Well, we saw a, we saw a person from Britain and his wife who were visiting. Naturally the English controlled the port of Singapore till 1970 and so there's a lot of the English influence still in there. They continue to drive on the incorrect side of the road, you know, like they do in England and stuff like that. And you kind of have to get evolved to that again. And the power of Our Lord God came on both of th...

By: Pierre Young | 11/11/2009Hang on a sec. Now I announced it, there it is, right there, the bottom one. This is what this woman called the program. I'm glad you kept that in my Bible. She announced,'Thank you for an inspiring Holy Spirit filled, solid and up to heaven program.' Praise God, I like that. Solid and up to heaven. Down to earth and up to heaven. Heaven came down. And I think that is's appropriate for this song,'Heaven Came Down' and glory filled my soul. Let's welcome the Oral Roberts Uni...
Bringing Jesus to Everybody by Richard Roberts
By: Jeffry Wagner | 11/11/2009The line of folks waiting to see the doctors ran all the way down the road. The sun beat down on them, making them sweat in the 90-degree heat, but they did not care. When she saw Dr. Jose Coto emerge from the medical tent, she flagged him down to ask,'How many folks will you see today?' Dr. Coto grinned, and with compassion answered her with't...
