For those you who are interested in the gift of prophecy and the prophets that our Lord is raising up in this day and age, here is a list of some of the best books on this topic.

The gift of prophecy can be manifested by the Holy Spirit through any believer at any time, and understanding what this gift is all about may help increase your chances of having this gift be manifested through you by the Lord.

1. "Growing in the Prophetic" by Mike Bickle

For those of you who are wanting to learn more about the gift of prophecy and people who are called to be prophets, this book will give you some very good insight into this very deep area. Mike Bickle is a senior pastor of a charismatic church and he has had many personal experiences with prophets and the gift of prophecy in his church and he shares these experiences with all of us in this most informative book. Very good book for all pastors who want to learn more about this area and any believer who would like to see what goes on with real prophets and how God raises them up to become actual prophets.

2. "Develop Your Prophetic Gifting" by Graham Cooke

To those of you who believe that you are being called by the Lord to be a prophet, I would highly, highly recommend that you read this book. This is the best nuts and bolts book I have ever read on everything that a prophet will go through in their actual training by the Lord and exactly how they are to walk in this gift. This book is absolute solid meat from start to finish and may be the greatest book ever written to-date on this topic. Truly an exceptional and highly anointed book!

3. "Elijah Among Us: Understanding and Responding to God's Prophets Today" by John Sandford

Another very good book on prophets and how God raises them up. In this book, John covers the different ways God will supernaturally communicate to His prophets and covers all the pitfalls and dangers they have to watch out for. This author is one of the real pioneers in this field today and he shares his wealth of knowledge and the experiences that he has personally had himself while walking with this gift for the Lord. Another highly recommended book for those of you who feel you are being called by the Lord to be one of His prophets or if you just want to learn more about this fascinating gift and calling.

4. "The Elijah Task" by John Sandford

Another very good book by John Sandford. This one was written back in 1977 and is still considered a classic by many gifted in this area by the Lord. Again, he goes into all the different ways God will communicate to His prophets and goes into very good detail as to how God actually trains and raises up His prophets. This man and his wife in this book speak from first-hand experience since they were called by the Lord to be actual prophets. You can learn much from this man's learning experiences if you believe that God is calling you to be one of His prophets.

5. "Thus Saith the Lord" by John Bevere

As great as the gift of prophecy can be, there is the other side to this same coin - and that is when false prophecies are given to people or to churches. Untold harm, misery and torment can be brought onto a person if they are trying to believe and hold onto a false word that really was not coming from the Lord in the first place. There are rules to any game and you have to know the rules of the prophetic game so you do not get duped into following a false Word from the Lord.

John Bevere does an incredible job in explaining the flip side to this gift and gives real life experiences of people have had their lives totally ruined as a result of following a false word given to them by either a false prophet or from a prophet who just made a simple mistake. This book is major must-read for any pastor and for any believer who believes in this gift for today. Many people have married the wrong people and have taken the wrong jobs in this life - all because they did not know how to properly judge and discern when a word did come their way from a prophet.

On a scale of 1-10, this book is a solid 10 - especially in the end times we are now living in where the Bible tells us that that false teachers and false prophets will be coming our way. To be forewarned is to be properly armed.

6. "Prophets and Personal Prophecies (Prophets 1)" by Bill Hamon

This is volume 1 of a 3 volume set by this author who is also a recognized prophet in the Body of Christ. He has written 3 fascinating and informative volumes on those who have been called to walk in this gift by the Lord. These 3 volumes go into very good detail of everything that the Lord will expect in the development of His prophets and what to look out for and how to really walk properly and effectively with this gift.

This man has learned much through trial and error in his own personal life with this gift - and his knowledge and expertise in this area can really help speed up your personal growth in this area if you have been called by the Lord to walk in this gift and office.

The other two volumes are:

a) "Prophets and the Prophetic Movement, Vol. 2 - God's Prophetic Move Today (Prophets 2)

b) "Prophets Pitfalls and Principles: God' Prophetic People Today (Prophets 3)

I would highly recommend these three books as companions to the book by Graham Cooke titled "Developing Your Prophetic Gifting" mentioned above for all budding and developing prophets. These 4 books, along with the two mentioned above from John Sandford, may be the 6 best books that we have on the developing of this gift in the Body today.
