Many scientists were trying to give the definition of God. One more theory is that of Anselm, who begins saying that God is the greatest being to think of. When Anselm says this, it means that there is nothing greater than God and it is not possible to think of something better. He thinks of God as of the best possible thought and image that can appear in mind, he is so pure and innocent as nothing in this world. Anselm also says that if God is the best idea to think about, he underlines the fact that it must be impossible to create something better than God can. Hence, it is almost impossible to stick to the point that God exists only in one’s mind. God is much greater, that is why it can exist not only in the imagination but in reality as well.
Further on, Anselm suggests that God has a lot of features, which are attributed only to Him and can describe him in the best possible way. He enumerates such features as self-existent, the necessity, justice, omniscient and omnipotent. Among the features, listed above, each can choose the most remarkable for him, though they all are very important. The most prominent is His self-existence. In fact it means that God depends on nothing for his existence, He does not have any cause, so his existence is permanent and He can not finish existing. It goes without saying that people are completely different, as they depend on many other factors for their existence, such as food, cloths. In other words, the being of people is contingent, that is depended, in other words. Contingent existence can start to be or finish being at any possible time. In difference with God, they can be present today and gone tomorrow.
