A little over a decade ago I read one of the best books for where I was in 1996. Donald W. McCullough made so much sense in his book entitled- The Trivialization of God. We’ve made God into our own image: a Western looking, blue-eyed, smooth-skinned, and ever smiling, holding a lamb with a broken leg. Sweet but trivial. We have him (and Mary and other Saints) on the dashboard of our cars, hanging from 24 carat gold chains, and other trivial toys that lead us onto too many detours of thinking, let alone being.
Let me remind you. I am not anti-Catholic. It just that they have been around for 2,000 years whereas the new kids on the block who like to PROTEST anything and everything are still wet behind the ears.
Only how we are living life NOW matters. How are we living the life with the next breath that we take? Are we so self-absorbed that we can’t see or feel the pain of those we love? Can we break out of our self-destructive day dreams and lay aside the religious toys that amuse us, but provide no spiritual light or transformation? We have ancient traditions that promise us so much more than we are currently willing to settle for accept.
Our present world indicts us and bears witness to our childish thoughts and lifestyles. We’ve created an hubris and greed that does not serve anyone very well, let alone ourselves. It’s time that we remember the words of Paul, “When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I grew up, I put away childish things”.

Your physical body is a sacred vehicle of light, which was created by God and joined with physical matter in order to accomplish a holy purpose that your soul chose before incarnating. It may seem as though your daily life is mundane and has little in the way of divine soul purpose, but one day this veil over your perception will lift, and you will see and feel deeply the full splendor of your soul's radiance and beauty as a child of God.

In order to grow to a new level, we must first let those things that are not serving us die. Some bible scriptures talk about this metaphor of death often and talk about dying daily and not to carry the dead with you. In other words from a metaphorical view, let those things that are no longer serving your growth die away and open yourself up to new life and new experiences.
