What Is Real To You?

Reality is defined as the totality of real things in the world or something that exists or happens. But what is real to you may not seem so to me, so is real a fact that we cannot dispute, or is it merely an individual's perception?

Let's take a look at your dining room table. It looks very solid, and it can support an entire feast and then some. If liquid is spilled on it and is left to evaporate, the liquid will not soak through it.

If you take a look at a piece of your table under a microscope, it won't look very solid. There are gaps between the cells, and it may appear rough or full of holes. If you could see all the individual molecules that make up your table, there will be more space than molecules. Each piece of wood is made up of various sizes of molecules, depending on the species of wood. The way the molecules are attached gives the wood the illusion of solidity and strength.

If you look at the glass in your window, it also seems to be solid and hard. Glass is, in fact, a liquid that flows. While this flow is immeasurable, after 100 years or more, you might be able to measure the glass and see that it is thicker at the bottom than it is at the top by a minuscule amount.

You probably already know that glass is made from sand that has been heated to an extreme level. Sand has many other uses besides being converted into glass. We use it to add traction to icy roads, to make concrete, to provide drainage to a heavy soil, and a special type can even make more oil rise from an oil well.

So, what we see isn't always a fact. Objects that seem solid to us really aren't. Some items have many seemingly unrelated uses.

So, back to our original question. What is reality? On the surface, it certainly appears that reality is whatever you perceive it to be. Remember science class? The teacher told you that everything around you, even you, yourself, are made of atoms. An atom is made of a dense nucleus made of protons and neutrons. Each type of atom has a specific number of these positively-charged protons and neutral neutrons. A certain number of negatively-charged electrons orbit the nucleus. Each type of atom vibrates at a different frequency and speed. Atoms, however, are not static. If an atom becomes excited by some force outside itself, this vibration changes. Depending on the vibration, this atom will either repel other nearby atoms or attract them.

Going back to your science teacher: since you are also made of atoms, you vibrate at a specific frequency. Just thinking about this question of reality is sending electrical charges that we call thoughts through your brain, changing the frequency at which you vibrate. You will either attract or repel other atoms just by thinking. This ability has generated a lot of interest lately, both online and off as the Law of Attraction.

It seems this theory has science behind it. Just as the Law of Gravity keeps us orbiting the sun and keeps you anchored to the Earth, the Law of Attraction is a part of your everyday life as well.

While the Law of Gravity controls you rather than the other way around, you can exercise some control over the Law of Attraction. If you school your thoughts and emotions, you can create a positive frequency, making the Law of Attraction work for you.

While the Law of Attraction isn't like getting a face lift, or suddenly becoming a star athlete when the most athletic thing you've ever done is to push a wheelbarrow, it can alter your reality. Remember, reality is based on your individual perceptions.

That dining room table of yours is solid as a rock in your perception, when it actuality it is more like a porous sponge. You think glass is solid, but in actuality it is a liquid. Whatever you believe will affect your perceptions and shape your reality.

One person may look at that fuzzy caterpillar in the yard and think how cute and fuzzy it is, while you may see it as only one of a huge mass that will soon be building tents in your apple tree and eating it bare of foliage. You see? Same caterpillar, completely different perceptions. Remember the old question about whether you see a glass as half full or half empty? What do you see?

Reality is whatever you believe. It is affected by your emotions and your thought processes. If you don't care for your reality, change it. Use your thoughts to change your frequency. As your thoughts change, your perceptions change. You will find yourself in a new reality. With this new reality comes a whole new set of attractions that will come to you.

It won't happen overnight. But then, nothing in nature happens in an instant. As time goes on, you'll see big changes in your life.
