Why We Should Not Trust in People

Wouldn't it be nice to believe anything and everything that someone said? Unfortunately, most people's words are filled with good intentions, but many never follow through.

I'm sure glad God is not like that! We know His Word is good, and what He says He will do, He will do!

It's so sad to see people looking to others for their fulfillment and security when they should be looking to God. Only God holds the key to everything we need and desire in life.

Is your hope in God? Or, is it in people?

I will tell you this, people can... and they will let you down. We are all imperfect. Only God is infallible.

So many people put so much faith in another human being by putting them up on a pedestal, and it is very sad. All they are doing is setting themselves up for disappointment. If we are not careful we can make other people an idol, and we know God hates idolitry!

We serve a great God who loves us dearly and wants to take care of us. He wants us to give Him first place in our lives and to put all of our hope in Him.

We will never experience the fullness of what God has for us unless we are truly believing in Him, and believing what His Word says about us and our circumstances. The Bible says, "Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6).

Proverbs 3:5 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." Whatever any situation may look like, just know God is in control. We are to live by faith, not by sight.

It seems the first thing we do when something uncomfortable comes up in our lives is to get upset. The second thing we do is run to another person and try to get them to fix it. The problem is the other person may not be able to fix it, or they may make you a promise they cannot keep, giving you false hope.

Don't put too much faith in a person. I know people have good intentions, but they are only people. God is our rewarder and He is perfect in all His ways. He will never let us down. He knows right where we are and knows just exactly what we need at any given moment. Jesus said, "Have faith in God" (Mark 11:22).
