You Know It, you Show it
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.
If you’re happy and you know it, then your life will surely show it.
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.
This could get noisy with all the people here today and all the happiness and emotions we are feeling.
And it is hard to keep something inside of you, especially when you are five or six. You know something, you show it. A skinned knee brings tears. A certificate and big hugs from your teachers brings happy smiles. It works that way with our faith, too.
You Know It, You Show It.
1.You Know Jesus.
2.Your Lives Show It.
It was Palm Sunday. That was a big day for the people of Jesus’ day—sort of like the last weekend before Christmas! The last chance to tell Mom and Dad what you are hoping Santa brings! Jerusalem, the capital city of Jesus’ country, was packed full of people who were getting ready for a big holiday. Jesus was coming to Jerusalem to celebrate the holiday, too. There was a big ruckus as Jesus came into town, riding on a little donkey. He rode that donkey into town, right up to the Temple. And here’s what Jesus did in the Temple.
“The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David,’ they were indignant. ‘Do you hear what these children are saying?’ they asked him (13-15).”
These children knew who Jesus was. They could see Jesus healing blind people. Imagine that! Someone who couldn’t see—maybe for his entire life, and then Jesus comes and makes him be able to see. And Jesus did that for many blind people that day, not just for one or two. And there were people who couldn’t walk, lame people. You know how sad it is when you’ve got a cut and your leg hurts so bad you don’t want to walk on it. Or maybe even somebody here has broken their leg! At least we could get better. These lame people were not going to get better, because no doctor in the world could make them better. But Jesus could. He healed all of them, too. And the children saw this and they knew, they just knew, that nobody had that kind of power, nobody could do anything like that except God himself. That’s why they called out to Jesus, “Hosanna to the Son of David.” Yeah, Jesus! He’s the Savior! Yeah, Jesus! He’s the Son of God from King David’s line!” They knew Jesus was the Savior.
And they showed it. That’s why they were shouting Jesus’ praises right in the Temple, even though some of the adults, the ones who ran the Temple, didn’t like them being so noisy. It didn’t bother Jesus, though. He could hear them. He liked to hear the children singing (and shouting) his praises. In fact, he said God the Father liked it too, and had even predicted, long before, that the children would do just what they were doing now.
“Have you never read, ‘From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise (16)?’”
It was right for the children, especially to sing Jesus’ praise. It came from the heart. They knew Jesus was the Savior and they just had to show what they knew by telling others about Jesus.
Well, look at all the things you know.
You Kindergarteners know how to read and write. That’s really an accomplishment. I know it was hard, hard work, but you did it! You did it! And look at all the things you will be able to learn in school because you know how to read and write. Would anyone be so foolish as to, just because they were out of Mrs. Nielsen’s or Mrs. Sigler’s classrooms, would anyone be so foolish as to say they were never going to read or write again? No way! You know how to read and write and you are going to show it every day of your life by reading and writing.
You four-year olds know the letters of the alphabet. You know how those letters and even combination of letters sound. You’ve been practicing at drawing and coloring, so your hand can color exactly where you want it to. You know lots of other things, too, about the clouds and seeds, birds and bugs. You know so much more now than before you started to go to school. You wouldn’t even want to go through the summer not using what you’ve learned. You’ll color. You’ll look at books. You will even see some TV shows about some animals and you will know all about them. And since you are ready for Kindergarten next year, you are ready to learn even more!
You know it, you show it.
You know the words of songs we sing in chapel and you show it by singing those songs in chapel and by singing those songs to your Mommy and Daddy at home.
You know the Bible stories about Jesus that you learned in class and you show it by answering your teacher’s questions about the story and even retelling others story that you’ve learned.
You know it, you show it.
But there’s something else you’ve learned. You learned it because God himself taught you. God taught you to believe in him. That’s why you know Jesus is your Savior. That’s why you know God the Father loves all people and that especially includes you! That’s why you believe that the Holy Spirit will always keep your faith getting stronger and stronger and stronger. No matter where you go, no matter where you are, there God is with you! To help and protect.
You know it, and you will show it. Oh, not by clapping your hands, or stomping your feet or shouting “Hooray!” but by always believing Jesus is our Savior. He will make sure we show, not only what we’ve learned this year about the alphabet or reading or writing, but also what we’ve learned about him.
You Know It, You Show It.
1.You Know Jesus.
2.Your Lives Show It.
I know you are happy. So am I. You are happy you are graduating. I and your teachers, you mommies and daddies, grandpas and grandmas, brothers and sisters and all your relatives are happy for you that you are graduating. Keep showing all the good things that are inside you.

Can we officially declare the flu season over and another year passed without pandemic bird flu threatened by gloom and doomsayers? What would we do without those reporters camped out at the Center for Disease Control or embedded with the American Medical Association who chill us with news of the latest medical scourge?
It was this time of year, the Sunday after Halloween, when I knew what life had in store for me. Somebody had bought too much candy and decided it would be good to bring it to church for the coffee fellowship for the kids.
I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! Or if you are like me, you say (in rapid succession) IknowIknowIknow! I say that all the time when something blows up in my face that I knew would blow up in my face, but I thought I could handle it. Like assembling Christmas toys the night before or eeking one more trip on a bad tire. Pazzowi! on the I-15
How beautiful! I can’t believe it! How beautiful! I mean, you just can’t drive down the street without knowing this is a church, a house of God! And the lighting! And it faces, what, east, south east, almost like it’s supposed to so the morning sun rises upon the worshippers. Everything is so new—the preschool attached to the church, the huge acreage, the parsonage right across the driveway.
I can’t believe what the kids are watching today! I mean, I should be happy. By watching these shows they are learning about statistics, judgment and risk assessment. Is it some hip educational program? Nope. NASCAR? Nope. Poker! You can almost always turn to some station, ESPN2 or the likes, and watch a Poker tournament. If this is sports, then I am physically fit! Golf, which some compare to watching paint dry, looks absolutely riotous compared with Poker.
It is amazing a land of such wealth and prosperity suffers shortages. Since it hasn’t rained this year, we have a bit of a water shortage here in what may become a permanent drought. According to some, farmers have a worker shortage so we need illegal immigrants to harvest America’s fields and orchards. The newspapers tell us there is a security shortage, with al-Qaeda daily growing in power and expertise.
Unbelievers living just south of the intersection of Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Bermuda are in for a shock. Today the first Christian church south of Silverado Ranch is opening up--Beautiful Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church. You know its pastor, Pastor Matt Guse. You know many of its members, for a number of them were members here before they set off to start Beautiful Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church.
“I’ve told you and I’ve told you and I’ve told you and I’m sick of telling you, so this is the last time I’m going to tell you.” You hear those words coming from someone’s mouth--mom, dad, the wife, the boss or teacher--it’s not a good time to reply, “Good, because I was getting sick of hearing it!”
We've moved so far away from the historical principles of most religious teachings. The ego has taken the discussion out of the esoteric and put it on the exoteric or externals and therein we've missed the major nutrients of the spirit.
Menorah pendants are very popular with those involved in the Jewish faith as a result of the importance of the menorah itself in Jewish culture and religion. The menorah is one of the oldest symbols of Judaism, with history dating back thousands of years. The standard menorah is a seven-armed candle holder that is used year round in religious ceremonies. It is so prominent in Jewish culture that it is also depicted on the emblem of...
After spending two years walking with Canadian crutches, and then a walker for a few years, I look at stairs and ramps with all sorts of mixed feelings.
Over the next months I am going to be sharing the complete story of what it was like for me growing up as a Jehovahs Witness. A lot of this content was written over a year ago, as I came to terms with what my beliefs actually meant. obviously I have changed names to protect the trusting, and the not so innocent. My story isn't that unusual, in reality a large number of witnesses will go thru similar eventualities. I am hoping the choice to share this will on some level help s...
Eighteen different Biblical versions give many varied and wrong translations when translating " foreign woman" and " the stranger who flatters with her words" In the entire Quran, the term "foreign woman" is not mentioned therein; all women are equal in respect to their rights and responsibilities regardless of race, color, location etc.
Every now I then I receive a letter from a subscriber on the best way to incorporate Christian meditation into their daily devotion time with God. Including Christian meditation, into your daily schedule can make your life so much more rewarding and fulfilling. There are numerous benefits to meditating on...

What are the “basics” of Christian living – the most foundational activities and disciplines that God wants in our lives? For a long time, I believed that Bible study and memorization, prayer, fasting and attending church were high on that list. But is that what the Bible teaches? Or is there more?

Some Bible passages people just know. Most of us can recite the first line or two of Psalm 23. “God so loved the world” would rate up there, too. Because of our familiarity with the worship service, some rather obscure Bible passages have lodged in our heads, like, “the peace of God that passes all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4.7).” But there’s one passage which everybody knows.
