How to resign from a Job?

Resigning from a Job is an experience everyone encounters once in their lifetime. With constant job hopping, resigning has become synonymous to a job change. So, it is extremely important to give your resignation the right way. You put years, months of efforts but all go in vain when you resign the wrong way. Impression takes ages to get formed so try to maintain it. Don’t tarnish your goodwill by wrongly resigning. Traits are individualistic; your improper reaction can have serious ramifications on your already blossomed career.

World has become a smaller place, everyone meets the other on the crossroads of life or while climbing the corporate ladder. So, it is imperative to leave your organization on a happy note. Human beings are emotional creatures, everything has its place same goes with emotions, so it is advisable not to show your emotions or feelings to your employer and colleagues since you never know when they can be of any help.

Professional Image is very important, so leave the company in such a way that your previous employer and colleagues should think of you as charming and a man of character & integrity. Don’t sabotage your image rather keep in mind these pointers while penning down a resignation letter.

Consider the following pointers before giving resignation:

Delete Personal files from the computer:

See to it that you delete all the files that you think objectionable or too personal to share with the organization you are leaving. If you have email account, do remember to delete it.

Get letter of recommendations:

If possible get letters of recommendation from colleagues or line managers under whom you worked. A brief of your competencies, achievements, proficiency and character goes a long way in putting forth a good impression on the future employer as most employers want a list of references to contact to verify your employment history.

Be clear about your company’s resignation policy:

Different companies have different resignation policies, some companies would no longer keep you as soon as you are resignation is tendered while others react sharply to your resignation. Be cautious and duly check the resignation policy of your company and and act accordingly.

Penn down resignation letter carefully:

Write a properly thought out resignation letter free of grammatical errors, make sure you proofread it so that you can’t miss out on anything. Stick to the company or else move ahead without turning back!!
