Today I was helping a friend weigh out the differences between the Fleetwood Tioga / Jamboree and the Thor Fourwinds Class 'C' motorhome. The Fleetwood is a nice product but I think the Thor out weighed the Tioga by a land slide.
The Thor has more head room in the inside of the unit and it has an easy to clean ceiling.
With the higher ceiling in the Fourwinds it allows for more cabinet space and bigger window, which in turn means more stuff to bring and more light coming into the coach during day light.
The one thing that also seems to lag on the Fleetwood product is outside storage. The Thor definitly has that section cornered. It has enough storage to bring just about anything you want including the kitchen sink.
One thing I was pointing out also is that Cruise America the rental giant in the RV industry, uses only Fourwinds. The reason they only use Fourwinds is because when you turn a motorhome into a rental it has no warranty from the manufacture. So the rental companies have to be very careful and make sure they buy a product that wont cost them alot of money on repairs and maintenance, other wise their profits will suffer a hugh loss or the'll have to raise the cost to rent one.
Another thing you have to take into consideration is the fact that Fleetwood is in the middle on bankruptcy and that means good luck on financing, let alone any warranty work needed to be done soon.
Thor on the other hand, has tons of cash and they are a debt free company which now days says a lot. Thor credit corp is also coming back online for Thor products and that means to the consumer that financing will be easier to get.
In the end you have to look at how strong the company is not just the name brand because, if the company isn't going to be around what does the name matter then.

Difference Between RV Classes
By: Kyle Yocky | 14/08/2009 | RVsA lot of people ask what is the difference between a Class 'C' and a Class 'A'. Let me first start by telling you that Class A's are typically more money than a Class C. However, both have their advantages and disadvantages, for example the Class A's seem to have more storage than the average Class C, but the Class C is usually easier to store given the sizes typically max out at 31ft.
