Genuine inner strength neither competes, nor compares itself to others. Guy Finley

When shopping, do you ever find yourself doubting the reason for your own actions? Or, do you suddenly get a mind-freeze when buying something you do not need just because may be on sale? It is really like the old saying that goes, the devil made me do it, or, I do not know why I bought this dress, or this skirt, top, shoes, or whatever.

In a situation like this, you must learn to laugh about it, salvage your pride for the mistake, and if you are too embarrassed to return it to the store, give it away as a gift. We have all been there. And it is a huge part of learning and recognizing your fashion sense, or your lack of it.

Rather than try to shop in an unorganized, haphazard sort of way, think about the type of person you are and the style of clothing you plan to purchase for your wardrobe. Then base your shopping habits on items that meet your personality and uniqueness. No matter how much you conform to what is offered in the stores, and what is popular at the moment, there are no two persons that will look exactly the same in the same outfit.

Before you step foot in the next shopping mall, stop and take a clear look at your life. Visualize every single place you frequently go and what you do while there. If your daily destination is to work, school, an at-home mom, a small business owner, a corporate executive, an entertainer, whatever, these are the places where you spend a good portion of every day doing many of the same sorts of things.

Your clothing purchases for these activities should make up the major part of your wardrobe. If you are not a glamorous entertainer, you will not have a closet full of after-five outfits. Clothing for what you do most frequently is your biggest investment. This is where you need the greatest variety. Clothing made in easy care fabrics are often the most important feature.

Next, decide what you can afford to spend. If, like most people, you have a limited amount to spend on clothing, make the most of each purchase. Plan well and with good values in mind.

Avoid trendy fashions that go out of style within three to six months. For longer lasting value, classic styles in dresses, suits and coats are always a good investment.

Is your present wardrobe worth saving? Make a list of every garment in your closet. Buy only new items when you need to discard old, out-of-style items. As fabrics have a tendency to fade from dirt, dust, and perspiration, protect and store your out-of-season clothing in dust-proof bags. Make sure your garments are laundered before storing them away.

Using the list you made of the clothing in your wardrobe, with a little careful planning and judgment, you will be able to decide which items from last season are still wearable. With a few alterations and your imagination, you may be able to update the look. For example, wear one of your classic suit jackets with a new sleeveless dress or long skirt.

In order to care for the various fabrics that make up your wardrobe, most garments come with a care-label. This tag tells you what the fabric is and whether it should be dry-cleaned or if it is suitable for machine laundering. Saving the tag may save you the expense of dry-cleaning a garment that is completely washable, or ruining one by washing it when it should have been dry-cleaned.

Fashion sense comes with planning, with care, and with one purchase at a time. Your wardrobe reflects not only your fashion taste, but also your judgment. Knowing the type of person you are and the style of clothing you plan to purchase for your wardrobe is the basic step. Remember, your shopping habits are formed when you purchase items that meet your personality and your uniqueness.

With these thoughts in mind, have fun shopping!

Does anyone know any good shopping stores in Belmont,CA?

Thre are a few questions in here I need answers to thanks
By: voterperson | 04-08-2008
QUESTION One: Would you care if your mother, sister, any family member did not like where you shop for clothes or criticized where you shopped for clothes? QUESTION TWO: Would you be wondering if they were laughing at you when you wear your clothes? Give details. QUESTION THREE: How would you handle it if someone did not like where you shop for clothes or criticized where you shopped for clothes? QUESTION FOUR: Do you agree with Roberta that it should not matter what other people think? GIVE DETAILS:   Here is why I asking. Tonight Stacy and her mom went to her sister?s, brother-in-law?s house (and two nephews) for dinner.   Roberta: ?Where did you buy that blouse. At the 99 cent store? Stacy: ?Yes? Stacy thought that was the end of the conversation. But right after Stacy cleaned up the dinner dishes (to help her sister) and came back out to the dining room the following conversation took place. Roberta: ?Why do you want to buy clothes at the 99 cent store. I mean you are not poor? This got Stacy mad and she lashed out at her sister and her mom. Roberta: ?I am not attacking you I am just curious.? Stacy: ?But I like the clothes there. I don?t get the crappy ones and I get a lot of compliments? Roberta: ?But you don?t know who wore them before - they are used. I can see buying jewelry there, paper towels, purses? Stacy: ?I don?t care if someone else wore them I like them. And the ones I buy you cannot tell that they were someone else?s. And I rather buy them there then go to a department store and spend $28? Mom: ?Stacy has tons of clothes from the 99 cent store? Roberta: ?Stop yelling. So you are saying you rather have quality then quantity? Stacy: ?I only get the quality? Stacy was getting madder by the minute Roberta: ?Stop yelling. I am not putting it down I am just curious. I was just asking. All you had to say was the following ?I like them and I prefer to shop at the 99 cent store? instead of going into major explanations?   Then they had a nice discussion. Roberta told Stacy that it really should not matter what other people think. That even though their mom and Roberta feel that they would never buy in the 99 cent store that doesn?t mean that Stacy should stop. And that even though Roberta does not like Macy?s there are people who shop in Macy?s that doesn?t meant these people are wrong for shopping at Macy?s. The same thing with the 99 cent store. That there are people who shop at the 99 cent store and like it. Roberta also said that if Stacy went to Sephora?s with Roberta and Roberta purchased a lot of lipstick Stacy would think that Roberta is crazy. But Roberta would not care because Roberta likes makeup. And also that their mom says plenty of things to Roberta but Roberta ignores their mom. because she does not care what the mom says.   Also Roberta told Stacy that Stacy always dresses nicely and Stacy likes clothes. When Stacy asked do you like this blouse. Her sister did say it was pretty but that is not the point, that Roberta is sure that Roberta has worn things that Stacy did not like, Stacy replied true" so it really is not important if Roberta likes it or not.   Stacy did tell her sister that her mom is a hypocrite because her mother accepted four blouses that Stacy purchased at the 99 cent store and her mom has come with her to the 99 cent store to look at the clothes. Her mother got defensive and said ?I only wore one of the blouses you purchased, it had a ticket on it, and I never purchased anything there?

My friend is really upset
By: voterperson | 02-08-2008
The last four days Stacy (in her 50?s) and her mom (in her 80?s) have been fighting. Today they started to get along again. However, today when Stacy was at the 99 cent store she called her mom.   Stacy: ?I found a blouse from Chico?s that Jennifer would like? (Jennifer is Stacy?s sister) Mom: ?I told her you buy the blouses at the 99 cent store and you know she won?t wear it?   Then tonight   Stacy: ?What did you tell Jennifer? Mom: ?Well the other day when you complained about me I complained about you to Jennifer and I told her you shop at the 99 cent store? Stacy: ?But the ones I buy are nice? Mom: ?Some? Stacy: ?But I get compliments? Mom: ?Some are stained? Stacy: ?Well you can wash the stains out? Mom: ?You purchased one blouse from a department store that closed 20 years ago? Stacy: ?Well then you don?t care if I take back the four blouses I purchased for you at the 99 cent store? (And Stacy took the blouses. Her mom followed Stacy to Stacy?s room when Stacy took the blouses) Mom: ?Well then I am going to take back the television set in your room. I purchased the Television for you. Let me see what you purchased today to see if they have any stains? (And her mom started to look at the blouses Stacy purchased today. Stacy grabbed them out of her mothers hands. And they had some fight) Then her mom got nasty with Stacy, but Stacy tried to calm her mother down. Stacy asked the following Stacy: ?But I got mad because I felt like you were telling me what I purchased is not good? Mom: ?I don?t even know what you purchased. I haven?t seen every thing. You have so much?   My question: (1) How would you interpret the mom?s remarks. (2) Would you care if your mother put down where you buy your clothes and (3) would care if she thought they were nice or not But the clothes Stacy buys at the 99 cent store are really pretty. The ones that are stained you can hardly see the stains and can be washed easily.
