The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran (9)

This is the ninth article of the series:" The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran".

The Bible says that you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus; for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

On the other hand, the Quran says that there is one Almighty Creator, Allah, and anything other than Him is a creature.  Allah has neither a son nor a partner.

The Sons of the Lord God in the Bible (9)

The Bible says that the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, so that we might be justified by faith.  Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law, for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus; for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

However, for more than 2000 years after the revelation of the Bible, there are still Jew and Greek, male and female.  Moreover, it is very interesting that all who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

--------------------------------------------

Galatians 3:24-28 in five different versions of the Bible:

Galatians 3:24-28

New International Version

24So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. 25Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.

26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,

27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

New American Standard Bible

24Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.

25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

26For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

27For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

English Standard Version

24So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.

25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,

26for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

27For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

King James Version

24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Young's Literal Translation

24so that the law became our child-conductor -- to Christ, that by faith we may be declared righteous,

25and the faith having come, no more under a child-conductor are we,

26for ye are all sons of God through the faith in Christ Jesus,

27for as many as to Christ were baptized did put on Christ;

28there is not here Jew or Greek, there is not here servant nor freeman, there is not here male and female, for all ye are one in Christ Jesus;

The Sons of the Lord God in the Quran (9)

On the other hand, the Quran makes it very clear and says that Allah, the Almighty Creator, has neither a son nor a partner.

The Quran decisively forbids saying that Allah has a son.

It is not befitting for the Majesty of Allah to take to Himself a son.

Allah has not taken any son either from the Children of Adam or from the angels.

if there were a god along with Allah, each god would have taken away what he created, he would have made it exclusively his and prevented the other [god] from having any mastery over it; and some of them would surely rise up against others, in challenge, just as the kings of this world are wont to do.

Allah is the Knower of the Unseen and the visible, what is hidden and what is observed.  And exalted, magnified, be He above what they associate!, with Him of son or partners.  Allah is far transcendent above all that they ascribe unto Him!

In Islam, this point is very important faith wise.

  1. Again, it is unforgivable sin to say or to believe that the One Almighty Creator [who is Allah or God or the Lord or Jehovah or whatever name(s) you are giving Him] has a son or Sons.

From the Islamic point of view, the conclusion of this essential topic that may establish or destroy the faith is that:

Any one who believe that the Almighty Creator has a son or Sons; he messes his faith up and is considered as a disbeliever and in the afterlife he will end up as an eternal inhabitant of the hell.

Any one who believes that the Almighty Creator has neither a son nor a partner he has a good faith and is considered as a believer and in the afterlife he will end up as an eternal inhabitant of the paradise.

Verses 39:4-5 make the issue of the son(s) of God clear.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The meanings of verses 39:4-5

The meanings of verse 39:4

If Allah wanted to take a son from among the angels or human beings as they allege that He has, He could have chosen from what He has created whatever He willed, and taken it as a child.  Glory be to Him, in exaltation of Him as being above that He should take a child. Allah exonerated Himself; He is the Lord God, the One, the All-Compelling, over all His creatures.

The meanings of verse 39:5

He created the heavens and the earth with the truth.

He turns the night into day, so that it grows. He reduces the night such that the day is longer than the night. And He turns the day into night, so that it grows and prolongs the night such that the night is longer than the day.  And He has disposed the sun and the moon; He makes the sun and the moon subservient each running, in its course, for an appointed term, until the Day of Resurrection. Verily, He who does this is the Mighty in retribution against those who disbelieve in Him and is the Forgiver of those who believe in Him?

--------------------------------------------

Verses 39:4-5 of the Noble Quran in four different translations:

Verse 39:4

QARIB: if Allah had desired to take a son, he would have chosen whatever he willed out of his creation. exaltations to him! he is Allah, the one, the conqueror.

SHAKIR: if Allah desire to take a son to himself, he will surely choose those he pleases from what he has created. glory be to him: he is Allah, the one, the subduer (of all)

PICKTHAL: if Allah had willed to choose a son, he could have chosen what he would of that which he hath created. be he glorified! he is Allah, the one, the absolute.

YUSUFALI: had Allah wished to take to himself a son, he could have chosen whom he pleased out of those whom he doth create: but glory be to him! (he is above such things.) he is Allah, the one, the irresistible.

Verse 39:5

QARIB: he created the heavens and the earth in truth, wrapping the night about the day and wrapping the day about the night, he has subjected the sun and the moon each to run for a stated term. is he not the almighty, the forgiving?

SHAKIR: he has created the heavens and the earth with the truth; he makes the night cover the day and makes the day overtake the night, and he has made the sun and the moon subservient; each one runs on to an assigned term; now surely he is the mighty, the great forgiver

PICKTHAL: he hath created the heavens and the earth with truth. he maketh night to succeed day, and he maketh day to succeed night, and he constraineth the sun and the moon to give service, each running on for an appointed term. is not he the mighty, the forgiver?

YUSUFALI: he created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): he makes the night overlap the day, and the day overlap the night: he has subjected the sun and the moon (to his law): each one follows a course for a time appointed. is not he the exalted in power - he who forgives again and again?
