Before dealing with the topic of the Semen in Quran versus Bible versus sciences, it is essential to remember that the total words of the Bible are 788,280 while total words of the Quran are 77,473. It follows that, the Bible is more than 10 times the Quran word-wise. In other words, the Bible has the potential of more than 10 times the Quran to exhibit any topic.
Back to the Semen, it is mentioned 8 times in the Bible and 3 times in the Quran.
The Semen in the Bible:
Genesis 38:9
"But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother."
An interesting biblical method to spill the semen on the ground but I do not know why the producing offspring would belonged to his brother and not to him?
Leviticus 15:16-18 and 32:
"16 When a man has an emission of semen, he must bathe his whole body with water, and he will be unclean till evening.
17 Any clothing or leather that has semen on it must be washed with water, and it will be unclean till evening.
18 When a man lies with a woman and there is an emission of semen, both must bathe with water, and they will be unclean till evening.
32 These are the regulations for a man with a discharge, for anyone made unclean by an emission of semen,"
The law of unclean after emission of semen but again, why should the man is unclean till the evening? What if he has emitted his semen at the evening?
Leviticus 22:4
"If a descendant of Aaron has an infectious skin disease or a bodily discharge, he may not eat the sacred offerings until he is cleansed. He will also be unclean if he touches something defiled by a corpse or by anyone who has an emission of semen,"
Deuteronomy 23:10
If one of your men is unclean because of a nocturnal emission, he is to go outside the camp and stay there.
Numbers 5:13
And a man lie with her carnally (with emission of semen), and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner;
The above verses give other laws about the regulation of emission.
However, the most interesting verse is that which talks about:
Whose Semen was like that of horses?
Ezekiel 23:19-21
19 Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt. 20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission (SEMEN) was like that of horses. 21 So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.
Because I am Egyptian, I do not know if I have to be proud of this verse that describes the Egyptian men's Semen as that of horses. However, I did examine some thousands of semen samples and have never seen any similarities between the Egyptian Semen samples and that of horses at least volume-wise!
The Semen in Quran
Many subjects are mentioned in the Quran in the way of inviting people to have faith. All people are called upon to turn their attention to their own creation. The Quran often reminds how man came into the world, which stages he has passed through, and what his essence is with special interest on resuscitation and the afterlife.
Semen is mentioned in the Quran three times and "Nutfah" (drop or part of semen) is mentioned 11 times
Who Creates Semen?
In Surah 56:57-59, there are three questions for the intellectual one.
[57] "It is We Who have created you: why then, do you not accept the truth?
[58] Have you ever considered the Semen which you emit?
[59] Is it you who create it? Or are We the Creator?"
These three questions are not present in the Bible in respect to the topic of Semen.
In Surah 80:17-23 there is a logic and reasonable link between the creation of man from the sperm and his death and his resuscitation in the afterlife.
[17]" Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah?
[18] From what stuff hath He created him?
[19] From a "Nutfah" (drop of Semen): He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;
[20] Then doth He make his path smooth for him;
[21] Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his Grave;
[22] Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).
[23] By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him."
In Surah 76:2, man is created from part of the Semen
"Verily We created Man from a "Nutfah" (drop) of mingled sperm, in order to try him: and We made him hearing and seeing."
"Nutfah" means what is left of a liquid in a bucket whose contents have been emptied. Thus the expression refers to a portion and not to all the semen. The emitted semen contains in a single ejaculation, along with its other constituents, sperms numbering of about 500 million. One out of hundreds of millions of sperm fertilizes the ovum.
In Surah 53: 45-47 and Surah 36-40; it is the semen of man which determines the sex of the baby.
Surah 53:45-47
[45] That He did create in pairs, male and female,
[46] From a "Nutfah" of semen when lodged (in its place);
[47] That He hath promised a Second Creation (rising of the Dead);
Surah 75:36-40
[36] Does Man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without purpose)?
[37] Was he not a "Nutfah" of sperm emitted (in lowly form)?
[38] Then did he become a clinging "Alaquah"; then did (Allah) make and fashion (him) in due proportion.
[39] And of that "Nutfah" He made two sexes, male and female.
[40] Has not He, (the same), the power to give life to the dead?
In the above verse, it is "of that "Nutfah" (part of semen) that Allah made the two sexes, male and female.
Hence human male is responsible for the birth of a male child or a female child. The human female is not responsible for the sex determination of the child. However, in many Muslim countries the woman is blamed for the birth of a female child as in these countries they welcome the arrival of a male child.
The year 1956 is considered to mark the beginning of modern human Cytogenetics. The sex of the fetus is determined by the father's sperm. The female ovum contains only the X chromosomes. If the sperm, or the emitted drop of semen contains the Y chromosome, then the baby will be a male, otherwise the baby will be a female.
None of the information above exists in the Bible or any other religious book. None of this was known until the discovery of genetics in the 20th century. Indeed, in many cultures, it was believed that a baby's sex was determined by the female's body. That was why women were blamed when they gave birth to girls. Thirteen centuries before human genes were discovered, however, the Qur'an revealed information that denies this superstition, and referred to the origin of sex lying not with women, but with the semen coming from men.
There is no way Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him could have guessed it all 1400 years ago. It had to be a Divine Revelation from Allah Almighty.
After all of that, look at the disputed man:
16:4
[4] He has created man from a sperm-drop; and behold this same (man) becomes an open disputer!
Surah 36:77-79
[77] Doth not man see that it is We Who created him from sperm? Yet behold! he (stands forth) as an open adversary!
[78] And he makes comparisons for Us, and forgets his own (origin and) Creation: he says, "Who can give life to (dry) bones and decomposed ones (at that)?"
[79] Say, "He will give them life Who created them for the first time! for He is well-versed in every kind of creation!
Back to our main topic, Is the Quran quoted from the Bible? And which book preceded sciences? The book which talks about the Egyptian Semen which are like that of the horses' Semen or the Quran which says that 1) man is not created from the entire semen, but only a very small portion of it "Nutfah" and 2)It is the man's Semen that determines the sex of the baby.

Does caning help in your kids learning to be more disciplined?
By: Ms.umasairam | 07/07/2009Caning kids as a method to discipline them is still widely prevalent in many parts of Asia. Many times parents and teachers resort to caning, to straighten up unruly kids who will not modify their behaviour with any other softer approaches. But does this approach really help? or does it reinforce the thought that violent action is required to get what you want?
