Antivirus 2009

Antivirus 2009 is a another rouge antivirus program that tries to convince its host that it is infected with various viruses in order to get the host to buy the software; when in fact the host is completely clean. Antivirus 2009 will gain access to your system through Trojans and then begin to completely wreak havoc by hijacking your computer. It will cause multiple popups and fake system notifications that will act to slow down your computer. Even if you manage to turn the program off, it will boot back up.

The rouge program comes off fairly legitimate however it is all a ruse. By clicking on one of the popups or alerts, the user will be redirected to a website where you can gain an Antivirus 2009 license. If you find yourself infected with this rouge program, you must take steps to remove it from your computer and DO NOT pay for the program.

Your best bet is to use an automatic removal tool. It is very difficult to remove this virus on your own as it reinstalls itself to your computer automatically. Conventional antivirus systems such as McAfee may not work as they may not identify new malware. We recommend using any PC Tools Spyware Doctor with antivirus. This virus scanner is designed to detect and remove this threat. You should restart your computer in safe mode to do a virus scan download and then to remove the virus from your computer.
