Detection and removal of malicious software is easier said than done. If you are an advanced user, chances are that you will know how to protect your computer against these pests but still there is no guarantee you won?t catch them.
You can detect and remove spyware and adware for free but you need to have the right programs, which will help you do it. Unlike spam, which is irritating but basically harmless, spyware and adware are a big trouble and they can really turn your life upside-down.
Well, what can Internet users do to defend themselves against spyware and malware? The good news is that there are reliable programs. But on the other hand, sometimes the fix is too painful.
For instance, last week I got a free anti-malware program. Not surprisingly, the program discovered tons of suspicious files and recommended to remove them asap. But surprisingly, the ?free? program didn?t want to clean all this stuff unless I paid $50 for the full version. I guess, this is called an attempt to rip off users!
But this was not all. I closed the program but even then it continued to nag me with messages such as ?somebody might be spying you?, ?there is an identity theft risk for you? and similar. This was pretty annoying but still it didn?t make me pay for the full version. Instead, it convinced me that the solution was to delete the program.
Ha! What a surprise! I couldn?t uninstall it because my access was denied! This drove me mad ? was this my computer or was this the program?s computer? Who had the right to decide what to install and uninstall ? me or the program? Eventually I found the solution ? restoring the system to a point prior to the moment when I installed this stupid program.
The time has come to find the software to a program I can trust and comes well recommended. One of the best solutions I have found is Ad-aware. Personally, not having a lot of extra money to spend, I am perfectly content with last year's free version. However, there are also Pro and Plus versions available at a reasonable fee. Presumably, the paid programs have added features, and probably scan computers in greater detail.
In fact, only restoring the computer to a time prior to the download fixed the problem. Essentially, the program is the exact type of problem people need to watch out for, when downloading software, especially if it is free. Sometimes, it is worth it to visit a trusted site and pay for the ability to remove computer program and spyware.
In short, if you spend any time at all visiting the Internet, your computer can use malicious software spyware and adware detection and removal. Despite best efforts, it is like a house without a screen door. The occasional bug will get into your computer, and you will need to get out the software fly swatter.

Identity Theft and Computer Crimeware: Bots
By: Randy Vezina | 05/09/2008
The term "bot" is for robot. Not the kind of robot you have seen in movies and television shows (does anyone remember 'Lost In Space'?) or the one at the car assembly plant. Bots are now one of the most complex types of crimeware on the Internet and therefore a significant tool for identity theft. Bots are a lot like worms and Trojans, except that they can perform a wide variety of automated tasks on behalf of their master who is usually located far, far away.

Cissp Training - the Early Days
By: Shon Harris | 01/09/2008
When I took my CISSP exam, I have taken it the way most people take it – knowing just enough to pass it was my aim, but I was asked to memorize facts, bits and pieces because I did not fully understand them. At the time that I took my CISSP exam, no study guides were available, no books, and no sites for the CISSP exam.
Advantages of Dvr / Nvrs Over Software Only
By: Abigail Hamilton | 01/09/2008
Software-only has become a hot sector of the market with wide appeal. It offers many advantages that IT departments in particular have been waiting for. However, pressure from customers is combining with media coverage of technological advances to exert pressure on providers to make their systems better, more affordab
