Free Anonymous Web Surfing - Always a Price to Pay

The amount of people searching for a free anonymous web surfing solution seems to grow everyday. This is partly to do I'm sure with the number of governments, hackers and identity thieves all prowling on the internet intercepting your details.

Anyone with a contact in an ISP or a legal document can claim the details of all your web surfing and track it back to your very PC. Whatever the reason it's a blatant invasion of privacy and law abiding people shouldn't have to put up with it. So searching for an anonymous proxy service to conceal your surfing seems like a great idea. Firstly though I'd like to explain a few points.

1 Running a Free Anonymous Proxy Service is extremely expensive
2 Running a Free anonymous Proxy Service uses a lot of bandwidth
3 The proxy server must be well configured or it becomes a huge    security risk to anyone using it.

I could go on but lets take the first point - why should anyone spend a serious amount of money running a free anonymous proxy for people they don't know. How many very rich and unselfish and defenders of our anonymity are there running these free proxies? Well actually not very many most people have better ways of spending their money. Nope, the vast majority of free anonymous proxies are misconfigured proxy servers which people have discovered - the owners are usually blissfully unaware of what they are being used for until they get their bandwidth charges. They are just misconfigured boxes usually inhabited by all sorts of people and spyware.

They are not very secure and usually incredibly tedious and slow to use. There are some fast free anonymous proxies though but how do you think they may be financed? Well I'll tell you that some are run by hacking groups in the far east and old eastern block countries. Their investment brings a flock of secret surfers to their servers who then direct every single piece of their web data via the anonymous proxy. Simplicity itself to store all this data and extract all the useful information like passwords, account numbers etc. That's how they pay the bandwidth charges!

There is simply no such thing as free anonymous web surfing you'll always pay a price in one way or another. If you're lucky it will just be the poor system administrator who messed up who will carry the can, if you're unlucky then it's time to check that paypal account or bank statements. Identity theft is rife on the internet and forget about the hapless Nigerian scammers sending out their dumb emails, there are much more sophisticated gangs prowling the internet ether who are technologically advanced and extremely resourceful. Be very careful how you gain your free anonymous web surfing the price could be more than you bargained for.

Jim Rjindael

Personally rather than waiting for the next hacked new proxies I pay a small fee for a secure encrypted service where I surf the net anonymously and all my communication is encrypted to US military levels. The software provides me with as near total anonymous browsing as is possible - I also use it on my work PC as it prevents all my web traffic being monitored by sites I visit, wireless hotspots I use etc. It even sits on my USB keyring so I can use it on any PC I care to use.

If you want to read about some of my thoughts on using anonymous proxies and how you can surf without being spied on, try the link below, from there you can also try out a demo of the most secure, sophisticated secure web browsing product available anywhere.
