If you were to type “free anti virus” into Google you will notice that there are millions of links for you to surf. Most of the main vendors will appear high up in the searches but for the person searching its a case of trying to find out if they are really free or some kind of scam.
All the main Anti Virus vendors will offer you a 30 day free trial and this gives them the right to appear on the search engine as Free Anti Virus. If you do use the Internet regularly and you were to get one of these free trials etc. you will find that the 30 days will come around very quick.
Then there are the sites that just try to get traffic to their site by just using the word free to attract the surfer and from there you could end up anywhere, most likely it will not be at the Free Anti Virus site that you originally wanted or even worse downloading some spyware etc.
But the good news is that the answer to the title of this article is TRUE. There are a number of top brand anti viruses that do offer free versions of their software with reduced features etc. One of the main features missing from these free versions is they block Automatic Updates or Real-Time Protection etc. You can actually stay well protected without these features by just updating manually and regularly scanning your computer.
Free Anti Virus Links

The bottom line is that you can use a combination of different free versions that will keep you protected and in fact there are free versions with all protection given.
Free Anti Spyware Links
Yes you can stay free and keep your system protected all year round; its a case of choosing one of the free versions and being happy to stay using that particular software or maybe changing from one to the other etc.
