By now, you more than likely have heard of spyware. Like most people, you probably aren't really sure of what it is or what it does. There are many fake anti-spyware programs like Antivirus Plasma around that will supposedly rid your computer of malicious malware and viruses. Here is a little explanation about spyware and how to know if you have it.
What is spyware? It is software that gets on your computer and can potentially be very harmful, both to your computer and your personal information. It can track every move you make online, what websites you visit, and can even get information such as your passwords, bank account numbers, credit card information and more. It's not a good thing.
How do you know if you have spyware? If you turn on your computer and suddenly have a new home page or a toolbar in your browser that you didn't install, it could be a sign that you are infected. Other signs are sluggish or slow performance and freezing up. If you have many of these signs, more than likely you have spyware.
Other signs of hoax anti-spyware programs like Antivirus Plasma are frequent pop ups and advertisements, often related to searches you have performed. For example, if you have been searching for weight loss or skin care information, the advertisements may be related to those searches. This is because spyware software tracks what you are doing, so it knows what you have been looking for. Pretty scary, isn't it? Not something you want!
Now you may be wondering where it came from. Spyware can be picked up from websites you visit and any program or information you download. This is where anti-spyware software comes in, but you want to make sure you don't use one such as Antivirus Plasma, which is a hoax. These fake programs put even more viruses and infections on your computer.
Antivirus Plasma and other software like it will cause pop ups claiming that you have severe threats, viruses or infections. They will then offer to repair this for you, usually at a price. Never click "ok" or "download" on these programs. Not only will you lose your money, it will not solve the problem and will make it worse, adding even more problems that will be very difficult to get rid of.
If you find that you do have spyware, the best thing to do is find reputable anti-spyware software. Once you run a good program, it should get rid of most if not completely all of the spyware you have. Occasionally you will have to run another anti-spyware behind the first one to completely clean up the malware you have.
Whatever you do, never click on pop ups or any software that you didn't search for yourself. This is simply asking for trouble, and the harm could be more than you know. Programs like Antivirus Plasma are fake, pure and simple. Avoid them, at all costs.
