Reduce the amount of programs running at startup. The problem with downloading and installing new programs is every one of them wants a quick launch toolbar or to be run automatically when Windows starts. Don’t allow it. Basically it organizes your hard drive in a way to maximize CPU speed. I recommend running it about once a month for good maintenance. You can access it by clicking Start>>Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>> and then click Disk Defragmenter.
