One of the things I hate most about the Internet is all of the criminals that fool people and get away with it. They create programs like Win PC Defender and use terrible fear tactics to try to get people to waste their money. Win PC Defender is a fake security application. It has been cleverly disguised as a program from the Microsoft Corporation, but it isn’t really from them. The Russian Business Network is really good at finding ways to get their rogue products onto people’s computers. They commonly use Trojan horses to sneak their vile products like Win PC Defender onto the victim’s system. Once on a computer, Win PC Defender will start to generate fake warning messages. These messages tell the user that they need to let Win PC Defender scan their computer for malicious code.
After a scan has been performed, Win PC Defender will present the user with a list of fake results. It will point to legitimate files on that computer and tell the user that they are infectious. Removal of these files could cause the computer to crash, but Win PC Defender won’t tell you that. Instead, it will suggest that you pay for the full version in order to have the threats removed.
Do not fall for this scam. Win PC Defender is not a legitimate program and will only do damage to your computer. Your money will be wasted on garbage. If Win PC Defender presents itself on your computer, remove it as soon as you find it. Otherwise, your computer will be pestered by pop-up messages and ads. You computer will work slowly and your Internet connection will slow to a crawl.
