Carl runs a site devoted to helping you rid your computer from all sorts of spyware and malware at http://www.spyzooka.com/
Antivirus XP 2008 is a fraudulent piece of software that poses as a legitimate anti-virus program. It will give you fake security alerts, then urge you to buy the "upgraded" version to resolve them. It will even mess your computer up in several ways, so that you believe its fake alerts!
This program will wreak havoc on your computer in a number of ways. If you've noticed it on your computer but haven't had any problems yet, count yourself lucky. If you've noticed ANY of the problems below, it is absolutely vital you get some 100% guaranteed anti-virus software and remove Antivirus XP 2008 ASAP!
Pop-up ads for XP 2009, XP Antivirus Protection, or other supposed anti-virus or anti-spyware programs keep popping up. Real, legitimate anti-virus and anti-spyware programs don't sell themselves with pop-ups. I should know--I've got one of my own (Spyzooka) and I never resort to that kind of tactic.
These programs are just as fake as the one you've already got installed on your computer. In fact, Antivirus XP 2008 often acts as a gateway, or Trojan horse, to let fraudulent programs like these into your computer. By the time you see their pop-up ads, they have probably already infected your system!
These programs will sap your system resources, so that everything runs slow. They'll try and get you to buy yet more malicious, fraudulent programs. What's worse, they may infest your system with spyware, so that cyber criminals from a remote location can steal your email and even your bank account info!
This drain on your system resources can be especially dangerous on your laptop. Laptops are much more prone to overheating than desktop computers are. Get too much activity on your system and you'll end up overheating. Overheat too often, and eventually your hard drive might not work right!
A new hard drive can run from $80 to well over $100. And that's just for the drive itself. You'll likely have to pay for a Windows re-install to go with it. And if you want your information saved, there's usually a charge to transfer it from one hard drive to another (IF the original isn't too badly damaged). Plus you'll probably pay a diagnostic fee, and possibly more labor costs.
I don't have to tell you how much cheaper it is just to get some good virus removal software. I believe in mine so much that I've slapped a 100% malware-removal-or-your-money back guarantee on it! But you don't have to buy mine--just buy something before your hard drive is a mess!
You can't get into Control Panel or My Documents. If you use your computer for school, work, or other important purposes, I don't have to tell you how detrimental this can be. This is Antivirus XP 2008's biggest scare tactic. Don't fall for it. Get something real on your computer--and get it soon!
