I have been doing Tae Kwon Do for two years and I'm a senior red belt. My goal in Tae Kwon Do is to be a fifth degree black belt. The martial arts have many powerful kicking techniques. Tae Kwon Do and the other martial arts teach's you how to be self confident. In Tae Kwon Do you learn forms which are called Poom se. You wear a Korean uniform which is called a Do bok. To get your eight and ninth degree black belts you have to be voted by the Tae Kwon Do Federation.
Tae Kwon Do has many diffrent color belts. The belts represent the diffrent stages of life and they have diffrent meanings. The belts are White, Yellow, Purple, Orange, Green, Senior Green, Blue, Senior Blue, Brown, Senior Brown, Red, Senior Red, Danbo and Black Belt. It takes you your whole life to reach ninth degree black belt. That's the ultimate goal to reach. You test every two months for your new belt. To get your new belt there's a belt ceremony that you go to and the instructores and the judges of the Tae Kwon Federeation presents you with your new belt and certificate.
The Korean discipline center is called a Do jang. When you walk on or off the mat you bow. You also bow when you enter and leave the Do jang. when you kick and punch at diffrent targets you yell. Yelling helps you to releave stress and to maximize focouse. For people who have ADD the martial arts will help them with concentration. The martial arts will also help kids and adults with concentration. People need discipline in their lives. The martial arts will help them to be a better person. The martial arts are a way of life and they will allways stay with you.
