Unfortunately it is the rare person who accepts 100% responsibility for their own lives. Many of us simply blame our upbringing, our country and our own bad luck for everything that has turned up in our lives. We blame our teachers, our boss and our society.
When we blame an establishment or anybody else we are effectively giving away our own power to them. We are in effect saying that we have no control over our own lives and it is up to “them” to make our lives better.
This is not the case.
Have you ever heard someone blame their doctor for not making them well? Whatever happened to self responsibility and knowing your own body rather than expecting an outside person to cure you? Have you ever heard of someone who blamed their parents for how their life is now? Whatever happened to turning the weaknesses into strengths? Have you ever heard of someone blaming their partner for being lazy? Whatever happened to getting to know someone first so you know exactly what they are like so you under no illusions.
Do not rely on the health profession to give you vibrant health. Do not rely on the education system to educate you. Do not rely on the government for your retirement pension. It is time to wake up and accept some responsibility for how you want your life to be.
Successful people do not settle for what is average or the norm. They seek something better. Much better. And they seek something better, not by whining that something shouldn’t be this way but by actively changing things to suit their needs.
It is incredibly lazy to sit back and think the world owes you everything. This is not the way it works. The world does not owe you anything. When you accept 100% responsibility for every opportunity, situation and person in your life then you are starting to live.
And when you start to live on this level you will find life exciting and exhilarating, because you are relying on yourself and not anybody else. This doesn’t mean you can’t enlist the help of others, because you can. But ultimately it is you who is making everything in your life how you want it to be. It’s incredibly empowering knowing you can live your life on your own terms.
Hardly anybody lives like this. If you do encounter someone who is genuinely pro-active with their life they will stand out a mile. Yes it is the uncommon person who is proud to accept responsibility for everything and everyone in their lives. Why not be like them too?
