Pseudologia Fantastica or pathological lying is referred to compulsive lying in psychology. Compulsive lying is a situation where a person keeps on lying about facts with no reason or any motivation. The person in fact believes such lies to be the truth and often misunderstands the true facts or creates myths regarding the facts. All of their lies suit their convenience. A compulsive liar is person who always lies and has a quality of compulsive lying. A compulsive liar most of the time creates his or her stories in such a way that he/she may even do it with as certain amount of awareness that they are trying to impress others.
A Compulsive liar always misguides or misleads the people around him or her to increase their social value. A compulsive liar is said to have a serious mental disorder or problem, which is to be rectified. In most of the cases compulsive liar is aware of the fact that he or she in lying and know what are they doing. Compulsive is not recognized as a clinical disorder. During a legal case it becomes very difficult for the plaintiff to prove that he or she is lying. Compulsive liars can even convince themselves so much that even polygraph fails to detect that they are been lying. Even if the get caught for the first time they just avoid it by saying that they were afraid or they were joking. Everyone does lie one or the other time, compulsive liars tell lies as if it's a routine for him or her regardless of the situation. Lying is a habit of compulsive liar. Compulsive lying may start by the will of a person to become famous or fear that they are not interesting enough. A compulsive liar also wishes to be perfect in everything so to obtain perfection in the eyes of others a person may begin lying. They may do it for fun or as they are bored and for some excitement, they start compulsive lying. Compulsive lying just adds up tension for him or her as it is very difficult to keep track of what you have said to whom. When compulsive lying becomes a habit and you can do it easily, you may even forget that you are lying.
Compulsive can be worst when you are caught. For example you boast to your friends that you have won a certain competition several times and you are being awarded gold medal several times. You find a lot of people getting attracted towards you, but someone asks you why you don't play now? You start with another one that you were injured during the play and you can't play now. Well someone finds out that there was no such event held ever and the experience may be very shameful but a compulsive liar will not stop.
