Creating Your Own Affirmation

Life and death are in the power of the tongue.  In other words – whatever you speak over your life will come to past.  Have you ever known a person that always had a negative thing to say about themselves? Every other word that comes out of their mouth is – “I can’t do this or I can’t do that, “or “I not good at this or I’m not good at that.”  They are constantly putting themselves down.  The more you speak a thing the more you believe it.

If you are one of those people it is time to learn to affirm yourself.  Affirmations are powerful tools you can use to help you live the life you have always dreamed of.  Affirmations are positive statements said out loud on a daily basis.  The goal is to say it until you feel it, believe it and live it.  The more you say it you are removing any negative thought that prevent you from living your dreams.

The Benefits

We all have thoughts that repeat over and over again in our mind.  Most of these thoughts may have come from childhood and have been directing your actions for years.  These thoughts have been feeding you negative information.

These negative thoughts are not always from direct statements from people, but from actions and reactions of others.

Positive affirmation can override these thoughts.  Your thought process begins to change as you speak positive things over your life.  To change your thought process, your need to create affirmations you can identify with so they can help you improve.

Keep these key points in mind:

  1. Affrimation must be present tense. Instead of saying, “I will be happy” say, “I am happy.”
  2. Affirmation must be stated in the first person. Instead of “you must be happy, it is better to use the word “I”
  3. Affirmation must be stated in the positive. When you speak positive statements you are telling your mind the exact desired behavior.

How to use Affirmation

Begin speaking positive things over your life by using a few short, clear statements about the changes you are seeking such as:

I am happy

I am an overcomer

I am prosperous

I am the head and not the tail.

These are just some of my favorite statements.  It is ups to you to find what works for you. Write them down on note cards and keep them within reach.  Read them out loud.  Say them with boldness and with a smile on your face.  Affirmation is a great way to boost the positive in your life.  Start today and watch the changes begin.
