Eliminating Stress And Negativity By Enjoying The Simple Pleasures Of Life
Author: Robert A. Meyer | Posted: 31-05-2008 | Comments: 0 | Views: 3 | Rating: (56) (?)
Although squarely facing the facts of reality is necessary-it is easy to suffer overwhelm by the ignorance and negativity surrounding you. Life has its everyday challenges. In addition, each day you're assaulted by events created by disastrous government policies. And much to your consternation, most of the other people you associate with seem to be oblivious to the cause of these problems. What is an intelligent person to do?
Walking around angry about the unfortunate happenings of everyday life isn't going to contribute much to your enjoyment of what I call "Libertarian Pleasures." If anything, your anger and despair cause you to feel stressed much of the time. Fortunately you can indulge in some simple, pleasurable activities. You can relieve most of the stress and negativity controlling your life.
In the 50's Kitty Kallen sang a song called "Little Things Mean A Lot." Appreciating the "little things" in life can result in you experiencing much joy and happiness. You may be asking "How can I possibly experience pleasure from these when the "big problems" in life are crushing my spirit. Following are ways to maximize your enjoyment of the simple pleasures of life.
Simple Pleasures
I am a libertarian philosopher. I write about the evils of altruism, government interventionism, violations of Economic and Natural Law, and expose the liberty violating ways of the Absolute Moralist. Obviously, if I worked myself into a frenzy of anger when I'm revealing all of this-I would be "pissed-off" most of the time. Believe it or not, I am calm, relaxed and happy. How do I accomplish this state of mind?
Meditation
I meditate at least one hour per day. I discovered methods for relaxing my body, mind and spirit. I continuously release negativity and experience higher awareness. And a higher state of awareness means I am increasing my reasoning abilities and tapping my intuitive powers. Since my number one goal in my personal life is to experience Libertarian Pleasures I meditate for the joy of the experience. Meditation is pure pleasure.
Walking
Sometimes I become uneasy and experience some stress during the day. As soon as I'm able, I leave my desk, go outside, and walk. The key to maximizing the enjoyment you receive from your stroll is to observe what is around you. Notice the rich blue sky-or if the day is cloudy experience the shape, texture and color of the clouds.
As you walk pay attention to the chirping of birds, a leaf falling gently to the ground, the daffodils and dandelions that grace the landscape, the sweet aroma of the honeysuckle and all the other pleasures a comfortable spring day offers you.
During the winter you can enjoy the splendor of snowcapped hills, icicles hanging from the trees, cold fresh air, etc. It doesn't matter what season it is-what's important is enjoying each moment. Your life is your highest value. In addition, joy and pleasure should be high on your scale of values.
More Simple Pleasures
Theoretically, you can fill every second of your existence with Libertarian Pleasures. Since there is no such thing as perfection in the sphere of human action, we do the best we can. We open ourselves up to as many pleasures as is humanly possible.
Awareness of your breath as you breathe in and out is stimulating. Feel the power and efficiency of your body as you stretch your muscles. You can savor every sip of the beverage you're drinking. You can activate all of your senses for maximum enjoyment.
There are many more simple Libertarian Pleasures-too numerous to mention. It is up to you to discover the rest of them. Each person is a unique individual who has his own tastes and desires. Everyone has a different scale of values.
In this short article I didn't mention some of the monumental Libertarian Pleasures such as ecstatic sex, listening to music that stimulates your sublime emotions, reading romance, mystery or science fiction novels, libertarian philosophy, free market economics, value for value relationships, and creating the values that make life worthwhile. Happily, a rational existence insures that you obtain many of these life-enhancing pleasures.
If you are concerned that giving into the moment is detrimental to reason and rationality have no fear. It should be obvious that a person who is angry and stressed most of the time is actually sabotaging his power of reason-and destroying his chance of experiencing peace of mind. You have heard that calm, cool reasoning is most effective.
Enjoying the simple Libertarian Pleasures of the moment guarantee that you reason in the most efficient way possible-and that your actions are rational and successful. You experience a happy, successful life.
