Ever set goals that just didn't happen? Or struggled to create goals that made your heart sing? Find out why with these three magical keys...
1. Be clear what a goal really is.
Your goal is a heart-felt expression of your desired direction.
It comes from the heart, not the head. Be wary of goals which sound like it's someone else talking, or goals which we are doing to please others.
You can always spot a goal from the head, because we tend to struggle to move one step in that direction - we fear, we procrastinate, we distract. This is not because we are lazy, but because our heart is resisting what it knows is not right for us.
Listen to your heart in choosing your goal.
2. Be clear what a goal is for.
Some people have a goal so that they can feel bad about not being there! Strange, but true.
When you create a goal (choose one now) you create a journey towards the goal. The journey is what your heart longs for. It could be an adventure, a challenge, something you want to learn, achieve.
Remember that a goal is another name for a journey you want to walk.
3. Make the journey irresistibly wonderful!
A journey can be all you want it to be. Challenge yourself, see what is possible, make it exciting and compelling. Most of all, make it so that your heart leaps at the thought of it.
Ok. Those are my THREE GOAL-SETTING KEYS.
As a short piece of fun, grab some paper and a pen, and write down at least 20 goals that you would just love to explore.
Could be starting a business, making some artwork, writing a poem, asking for a promotion, choosing a new look, saying your peace, creating a festival, starting a website, arranging a get-together, riding a speedboat, uncovering your family tree, planning a retreat...whatever floats you boat!
Listen to heart and just write and write. There are no mistakes.
When you've finished, choose just 3. From them, choose 1 and polish it till it shines!!! Decide, if you wish, to make it yours.
