Whether you realize it or not, the Law of Attraction is already working actively in your life right at this moment. The events, opportunities and experiences you are experiencing today were set into motion by the thoughts and actions you‘ve taken previously.
The secret to the Law of Attraction is really about realizing that this law is already active in your life and deciding that you want to deliberately attract things into your life consciously rather than leaving it to the vagaries of your subconscious. This is going to take some effort on your part and if you are trapped in a negative spiral, it is probably going to take a great deal of work to change the patterns of your thinking. You’ll need to monitor your emotions in particular, because it is your emotional state that gives you the clues to the kinds of things your thoughts are attracting to you. With practice, this monitoring will become more routine and you’ll be able to let the negative thoughts go lightly while you move your focus onto the positive.
One of the main differences between the writers of the early 20th century and those who write about the Law of Attraction today is the emphasis on just how much work you need to put into consciously working with it. Many of the new breed of writers suggest that it is easy and that merely thinking about what you want for 20 minutes a day and putting together a vision board or two will get you on the road to prosperity and abundance.
The early New Thought writers such as Wallace Wattles, on the other hand, suggest that you need to do a lot of work and must deliberately take charge of what you are attracting into your life throughout your every waking moment. In the words of Wallace Wattles, echoing a common phrase in Christian mysticism, you need to "pray without ceasing". In my opinion, this the correct course to take. Put a lot of work into the Law of Attraction and reap the large rewards. Or put a little work into it and watch the rewards trickle into your life. It's your decision. Reap what you sow.

Depression
By: ksgirl | 23-06-2008
I am a female, 24 years old, married a little over a year. I have struggled with depression my entire life. I have attempted suicide five times, the first time at the age of six. (I had gender issues and sibling problems.) As a young girl, I was molested long-term by a female relative. I saw counselors for this. As a teenager, I was abused long-term and finally raped by a family friend and became pregnant. I induced a miscarriage by taking drugs. I became heavily involved in drugs and cutting myself for many months, and most of my suicide attempts fall during this time period. I got off drugs myself, though I saw many counselors and took an herbal anti-depressant. I refused drugs because I thought my parents would be ashamed of me ?taking the easy way out.? I became engaged to a homosexual man, who was my best friend, and convinced myself that I couldn't do any better. I broke off the engagement when I fell in love with a man and decided to try for real happiness. I dated around, ended up living with my now-husband. A friend tried to force himself on me while my then-boyfriend was out. I stopped him, and he lied to my parents, told them that my bf was abusing me and forcing me to make porn movies. By the time we'd cleared that up, my bf and I were engaged, but this "friend" had seduced my little sister, then 16. (He was 25.) They snuck around until she turned 18. In the meantime, three close relatives died within seven weeks of each other. My sister left my parents (moved out while my mother was making funeral arrangements for my aunt, the last to die, and I spent all night looking for her, not even knowing where she'd gone or if she was ok) and moved in with him, refused to attend my wedding, and believes him over me about what happened. We were best friends growing up, but now barely speak. I've heard they got married. My husband and I moved out of state a year ago. I have had a lot of difficulty adjusting, and have had relapses of my depression. I find myself wanting to cut badly, and instead often drink or have a cigarette. When I'm alone, I masturbate compulsively. I try not to binge-eat, which I have done in the past, because I am just now maintaining a healthy weight, for the first time in years. But I want to eat, and I know that the feeling is just a reaction to the depression. I often feel anxious and extremely sad, even when things are going well. I have a family history. (A great-grandmother was a hypochondriac. My grandmother had ?nerves? all her life, spent all her time on the couch, overate, was violent, etc. My uncle is bipolar. My mother has seasonal-affective disorder and has been treated for depression.) I have begun to think that my depression is a chemical imbalance of some kind, exacerbated by the events in my life, because there isn't a trigger to most of these recent episodes. I am still able to function, go to work, etc, but my private time falls apart and I'm distracted. I am struggling with how to deal with this. I don't want to waste money on therapy if it's a physical, not emotional, thing. I'm sure that, at this point, there's little a therapist can do but to tell me to move on, which I am trying to do. I also worry that my insurance rates will go up if I end up on antidepressants. Most of the time, I think I handle it pretty well. But I've begun to think that cutting is better for my health, long-term, than smoking. I don't even like to smoke anymore, I just do it to get rid of that urge to hurt. I have to hide the cigarettes from my husband, who hates them, but they're easier to hide than cuts. Also, I am a writer, and I have the thought in the back of my head that my depression makes for better work, so I maybe don't want to lose that. I'm very confused... Any comments are appreciated. Thank you, Rosie, for your response... I see that many people have read this, but have not replied. I wish I had more responses to get a feel of everyone's thoughts...
