It's hard after a breakup when you want to get ex back but are afraid that you won't. It can be a stressful time for everyone involved--your ex included. If you want to get an ex back, you've got to keep a level head while also making sure you don't make life on your ex's end any worse than it already is. Here are three keys to striking this balance.
1. Realize that your ex probably isn't just leaping for joy. After all, if he or she is, then you're probably both better off with somebody else. But honestly, this just doesn't happen as much as you might think it does when you're on the receiving end of a break-up.

And who's going to be happy that things didn't work out? Neither you nor your ex are likely to be happy about it. Even if your significant other is the one who did the breaking-up, that's no cut-and-dry guarantee that they're floating on cloud nine. In fact, the opposite is probably true.
2. Understand that guilt-tripping your former mate will be unlikely to help you get your ex back. They are probably already feeling guilty enough about the breakup. Do you want to be the person that makes them feel even worse?
It's a natural reaction in a lot of people to want someone to feel guilty when they hurt you--even if it's someone you love. But what's not natural is to want to be with someone who makes you feel bad.
So understand that, no matter how your ex may have wronged you, bashing this fact into their heads is not going to make them associate you with pleasant feelings. You need to make yourself a force for positivity and love if you want to have any hope to get your ex back.
