The first advantage to getting your degree online is the convenience factor, lets say that you are a teacher already you do not want to quit your job just to expand your education. The advantage to getting your teaching degree is that you can schedule your classes to fit into your current schedule. Another advantage is that there are several programs and schools out there to choose from, So the choices for you are quite literally unlimited for you. This goes back to the advantage of being able to pretty much name your own schedule as far as classes go. However there are some disadvantages to this as well. One of the disadvantages to this is the fact that you will not have the close environment that you would in a traditional classroom setting. You may feel a sense of isolation and think that you are not able to interact with the instructor as well, which may lead to you not doing as well as you might in a traditional classroom setting. Another one of the major problems is that you will always have to have high speed Internet. This may or may not sound like a problem, consider this though lets say that you are at home working on your homework assignment. You decide that you will work on it while you have an hour of free time at work, only to discover that there is no access to high speed Internet. This may lead to you turning an assignment in late. As you can see there are advantages and disadvantages to getting your degree online. However in the end regardless of how you decide to obtain you teaching degree it is important that you remember that the kids are the ones that will ultimately benefit from your decision to get your teaching degree online. The most important thing that you need to do is sit down and weigh the pros vs the cons and try to figure out if an online degree is the way that you want to go.
