 Jewel of the Month: Fluorite
Fluorite is part of the cubic crystal system meaning that the arrangement of atoms in its crystalline structure forms in cubic shapes. The largest occurrences of fluorite are of magmatic origin. Fluorite arises as a component of acid magmatic rock and it forms in a rainbow of colors. Fluorite vibrates with the crown (7th) chakra. It encourages self-discipline, concentration, and grounding. It assists us to bring order, organization and self-control into our lives. Fluorite affects the brain directly and has been known as a "stone of discernment and aptitude". It stimulates the rapid absorption and processing of information. Fluorite is an excellent learning aid stimulating us to cross-reference existing knowledge and to become aware of things that we have not fully understood conceptually.
Jewels of Life:
September means back to school. It seems that after Labor Day, the new school year really kicks into gear. It’s a time for bringing in new information; a time of increased learning after a summer of fun and play. Kids and college students aren’t the only ones that must concentrate on learning. Learning is a life-long process and by taking opportunities to learn new information we exercise our mental muscles and increase our aptitude and our capacity. Taking the time to put effort into learning can bring about a great sense of accomplishment. The self-discipline it takes to engage in a learning activity can increase your self-esteem and help reduce anxiety. Is there something that you have wanted to learn and would now like to bring that learning into your life? Fall is an excellent time to stimulate your mind. Take a class and learn how to play an instrument, learn a foreign language, learn a new form of art, learn to be a more effective writer or communicator, take computer classes, fitness classes, cooking classes, personal enrichment classes and much, much more. The possibilities are endless and so are the resources. Community Education offers many courses, libraries offer free lectures; bookstores, cooking stores, music stores, health food stores and other specialty stores offer classes, seminars and lectures. Local colleges offer classes for lifelong learning. Check out books at the local library on a subject that interests you. Listen to informational CDs, programs and books on CD or tape while you are driving. Turn your drive time into learning time. Watch educational television shows. When you flex your mental muscles, you increase your brain function, develop new neuro pathways and enrich your life. Having a richer life, that would be ok wouldn’t it?
The world is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper. –Eden Phillpots

Scientists have discovered that eating less can help you live longer. According to research just published, eating 15% less can add 4 years to your life. But is it worth it? I dunno about other people, but I eat because I enjoy it. I don't think it would be worth it for me to restrict my enjoyment just to live a few more years. What is your opinion? Larimar is a light blue form of pectolite and was recently discovered (within the last ten years) in the Dominican Republic. Larimar stimulates the heart (4th) chakra as well as the throat (5th), the third-eye (6th) chakra, and the crown (7th) chakra. It stimulates us to take proper control of our lives, dissolving sacrificial behaviors and philosophies that lead to suffering. It bestows inner peace as it facilitates inner wisdom and outward manifestation. Larimar is known as a “stone for Earth healing” and emits energy of peace, healing and love.
