Religious tolerance
In all the constitutions of the world, the principle has been accepted and adopted that the state shall not interfere in religious affairs of the people and the state shall not discriminate only on the basis of religion. It has further been accepted by all the countries that they shall see that the people living in that country have faith in the principle of religious toleration and they do not discriminate another only because he belongs to another religion. The state shall try to maintain equality in the country and the people shall be at liberty to practice their own religion provided they are not violated the norms prescribed by another religion.
In most of the countries people have started believing that the state is not adopting the principle of religious toleration or the states are not accepting the concept of no discrimination on the basis of religions. In most of the states people have formed majority group and minority groups and they are claiming that they are being discriminated. They are trying to have quota in each job and in each house on the strength of their religion and countries like India have already adopted this distribution method and they are obliged to earmark quota for each group just to please that group. Here in India we have prescribed quotas for members of scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, ex-Servicemen, freedom fighters, riot affected people, sportsmen, physically handicapped and now people like Mohamdans, Christians and the Sikhs are trying that they too should have a quota prescribed for them in any walk of life. This shall prove very dangerous, but people are demanding because we ourselves had started with this quota system and we are not in a position to abolish this quota or reservation system. And one day, we, the people of India shall be repenting upon our own follies and we shall be cursing those who had established this reservation system because we could not maintain merit system and in due course we shall suffer inefficiency.
When there are so many religions in a country, religious tolerance is the only principle which could be adopted and followed because there is no other method through which we could maintain unity in the country. Time has come when the people must keep their religion as their own personal concern and they must keep this field for themselves only and they may try to meet God through their own religion and nothing more.; When we make religion a political group, we are polluting the religion to which we belong, but this new process has come into use in all the countries and now people are fighting elections on the basis of religions and they are winning elections and when they win they start trying to discriminate on the basis of religion and this is the root cause of all our problems and because of these divisions on the basis of religions, we are not in a position to keep the country united and thus we are violating the integrity of the country.
Time has come when we should try to keep religion apart as our private concern and we should utilize our religion only for prayer and nothing more. We should not allow our religion to bring politics in it because politics shall pollute the religion and thus we shall be violating religious values.
